Thanks for that info.
I wonder what her life was like. Taken away from her father, a bipolar mother, and moved halfway around the world. The whole thing is shocking.

You're welcome. I also wonder that as well. It says Savanna is healthy and living a normal life, but we can only wonder what kind of hell she went through with a mom who has some screws loose and not having a father around.
I do believe that Dorothy may not have been in the right mind set when taking Savanna, but I believe she also knew what she was doing was wrong and I hope she does get punished, not for being bipolar, but for taking her daughter away from her own father.
DarkDante 11-22-2013, 05:01 PM This was one case I frankly thought would never be solved. I believe it was alleged at the time that Lee Barnett may have been aided by an underground group which facilitates mothers who are involved in custody disputes or divorces to disappear with their children. I always felt the worse for Harris Todd as if you didn't see the segment, after his daughter vanished he was plagued with nightmares of being placed in a room with scores of children and if he couldn't identify which one was his daughter, he would never be reunited with her.
So regardless as to how this turns out, Harris Todd at least now has the answers he seeks and can be comforted in the knowledge that his daughter has led at least ostensibly a healthy and well adjusted life.
Children of The Underground has some very recent articles on the case which some of you might want to peruse:

I haven't seen the segment in ages but I could only imagine the pain he's went through. I didn't know that Children of The Underground still existed in today's world, and I still don't understand their agenda.
lauracrook 11-22-2013, 06:43 PM There's this article too :)

RobinW 11-22-2013, 08:00 PM I don't think I ever saw this case on UM, but given the huge number of mysteries which have been solved lately, it's great to hear of another, especially one which ended with a missing person being found alive.
The Charley Project write-up is pretty infuriating, however. Apparently, Children of the Underground never even thought Savanna or her mother had been abused by her father, but still decided to hide them because they believed he was a homosexual:

WishfulDreamer 11-22-2013, 11:20 PM Another case solved this week!! :D I'm especially happy to hear that Savannah is alive and well. Hopefully she can reunite with her father and hasn't been completely turned against him.
Orgazmo 11-23-2013, 01:41 AM Australia: An island hideaway :D
wiseguy182 11-23-2013, 03:24 AM Faye Yeager is a complete and utter whack job. I'm pretty sure she also helped out the Maples. She does not investigate the claims at all. It should be noted that the link Dante provided is actually Children of the Underground Watch and is not affiliated with the group, actually it is against it.
Necco 11-23-2013, 04:18 PM Another one solved? Seriously going to look for Judge Crater in my purse now.
This case always broke my heart in a thousand pieces. Glad it's solved and I hope Savanna can renew a relationship with her dad.
crystaldawn 11-25-2013, 01:49 PM So glad to see its solved!! :)

unsolved1981 05-18-2014, 10:30 AM Just watched a couple of Australian made segments on this. The big bad US wants to punish a woman 'just trying to protect her child', and they throw in how 'wealthy' he is, as if that makes him wrong.
Witness the power of the media. A carefully edited segment, sad music, and suddenly it is some kind of Americans vs Aussie tug of war.
Necco 09-03-2014, 10:30 PM She's being extradited to the US

TracyLynnS 09-04-2014, 08:05 PM I read an article about this case in the dailymail today. Almost all of the commenters are siding with the abductor, calling the dad vindictive, believing he was abusive (even though both parents were evaluated and the court decided to give the father custody, which would have been pretty rare in the early 90s and unlikely to happen if he really was an abuser), saying it's impossible to kidnap your own child, and pretty much nearly everyone saying just let it go because it was so long ago and the girl is an adult now.
I couldn't believe them. First of all, not one UM viewer in the bunch, apparently, and second, this was a major crime committed by a mentally unstable woman! She had gone to South Africa and New Zealand with Savanna before eventually settling in Australia. The child is now a 20 year old woman and the poor dad never got to have a relationship with her for her entire life! And all those people just want to let the "mom" get away with it.
