Dawn Wells wasn't allowed to show her belly button on TV. It was a time when that wasn't heard of. In "I Dream Of Jeannie", Barbara Eden wasn't allowed either.

But, here is a shot from season one, episode 10 "Waiting for Watubi"

Who gets turned on by belly button lint?
I agree that it's good to be conservative and modest in clothing, but I don't think this particular occasion was too scandalous. (It's not like she was regularly dressed like that all the time anyway.)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this is scandalous. I just think it is funny how they made a big deal about it back then and she wore that outfit as early as the 10th episode.

Well, sometimes when I see the things that pass on TV today, I wish people were a little more uptight about some of these kinds of things...

Tina's belly button doesn't seem to be cover either.

I think there was even some concern about male actors showing their naval too, I seem to remember a Tarzan show around the 50's or 60's that had the male actor with his trunks a bit high over the belly button.

There are several times that Gilligan is shown without a shirt, such as in Castaways Pictures Presents when he dresses as a cannibal, and you can always see his belly button. I always wondered why the ruling seemed to be different for men.

Mmm I always appreciate whenever Gilligan is shirtless :faint:
