It seems that there are numerous times where Clair did or said something that was very touching. That's probably why she's one of my favorite characters on this show. Some examples:

-The poem she wrote for Denise just before she went off to college, that made Denise cry and come over for a hug.

-when Vanessa was lamenting about being called "rich girl" at school, Clair informed Vanessa that she was rich, but not in terms of monetary value, but rather because she had a family that loved her.

-when Sondra and Alvin got engaged, she stood up and talked about how wonderful Sondra was, but also told Alvin he was a good man and he was welcomed into the family.
