View Full Version : Why was Laura afraid to ask Steve if he slept with Myra Monkhouse
Neutronman67 11-18-2013, 08:26 AM I mean Steve Urkel was with Myra Monkhouse for 5 years they both had to be more then just kissing buddies for all those years lets get real lol, so my question is why come Laura never asked steve once they started dating or got engaged in season 9 if him and Myra did more then just kiss each other cause i neutronman67 think Steve and Myra did have sex together.
rpm31 12-18-2013, 11:08 PM That's funny, because there is a Family Matters fan fiction story on FanFiction.net (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4464118/1/Family-Really-Does-Matter), where an 18-year-old Steve Urkel actually DOES sleep with Myra Monkhouse. In fact, in this story, Steve actually DOES give up on Laura (finally), after Laura tells him off for the last time when Steve tells Laura part of him still loves her despite him having slept with Myra.

Please!!! They did not!!! LOL. Not everyone will go and do the deed.
rpm31 12-21-2013, 12:47 PM Right. I know on the show, Steve and Myra would not sleep together, because it is not in Steve's nature to have sex before getting married. As I may or may not have implied, the only way Steve would have slept with Myra would have been if he really did give Laura up for her.
Neutronman67 12-25-2013, 08:01 PM Steve was temped to have sex with Myra he told carl's mother Estelle winslow he wanted to be Myra's love toy but he was afraid of what could happen if he had sex outside of marriage and would wait until he was ready, Steve Urkel would have to be the only male in the entire world to resist having sexual relations with a hot girl like myra monkhouse she actually wanted to sleep with the nerd lol , this is from season 5 episode Like A virgin.
rpm31 12-25-2013, 09:08 PM Of course he was tempted, he was a MAN!! However, he could not do it because his love for Laura was way too strong and he wanted to save himself for her. Estelle probably wanted Laura and Steve to get together as well. I'll bet if Estelle were still around after the ninth season Christmas episode to see Laura say yes to going out with Steve, Estelle would have remarked, "Well, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!" LOL
nicole7477 12-26-2013, 03:11 AM That's why I think that Season 9 was a little weak. The only think I liked about Season 9 was Steve and Laura, that's it, but without ALL of the original cast there, it's nothing. They should've had Rachel, Estelle, Richie, Judy, and the original Harriette throughout the whole Season 9 to make it legit. Estelle would've jump for joy when she found out about the Steve and Laura union because in Seasons 1 and 2, Estelle suggested Laura to stop being superficial and go with Steve. Estelle and Myra saw the good traits in Steve that nobody did. That's why Estelle said that if she was years younger, she would date and marry Steve. I love Laura Winslow, but she waited too damn long to see the goodness in Steve and get involved with him romantically. She should've got romantically involved with Steve in at least Season 7 after the Dream Date episode. She was so worry about her reputation that it blinded her. She always dated the hot muscular guys who only wanted to hit it and quit it and those who treated her like crap. Like what gives? It's a shame that it took Steve going steady with Myra to see what kind of a good man he is. You better be lucky that Laura got Steve at the end because she would've lost Steve forever even if he did break up with Myra or he will wound up marrying Myra, but because of how she is, I don't think that's going to work either. This is a prime lesson. NEVER JUDGE THE BOOK BY THE COVER. Laura was blinded by the geekness and nerdiness of Steve back in the day. Steve look like he can do the horizontal polka REAL good. Steve got a muscular body. Laura is blind.
rpm31 12-26-2013, 07:31 PM Steve / Laura ending WAS a happy ending, though the way the writers had it come to be was flawed, but I still say Myra wouldn't have had her terrible attributes that turned Steve off if only Steve would have instantly gotten over his crush on Laura when he first met Myra in the fourth season (remember, he made a ridiculous speech about how he'll never give up stalking Laura when he and Myra were on their first date), and he sure as hell would never have regretted marrying Myra. Underneath all Myra's crazy was just someone who truly wanted Steve to see her the way she saw Steve.
nicole7477 12-26-2013, 07:53 PM Yeah, but there's different ways of going about it. You can't force someone to love, and I'm also talking about Steve too. Luckily, Steve won because he and Laura both grew up and let it take it's course. When Steve went steady with Myra, he wasn't the stalking person that he used to be even though he still wanted to be with Laura. Even though he also find Myra attractive just like he found Laura attractive, he's with Myra by default until Laura changed her mind. I believe that if Steve and Laura started dating after the episode of Dream Date and he told Myra that he and Laura fell in love and they are going to start dating, I don't think that Myra will be TOO possessive like she was on Season 5 and 9. She would just moved on, and Curtis too, and it will be a REAL Steve and Laura wedding with Myra probably being one of the bridesmaids. The way that they did it was bad timing, but nevertheless, I still think that Steve and Laura were meant to be.
Even if she did act that way because of Steve constantly talking about Laura, it didn't give her no right to be so possessive, obsessive, jealous, needy, and clingy. I'm sorry, but I don't buy that.
rpm31 12-26-2013, 08:27 PM If that's the way Steve really felt around Myra though, then he should have insisted they just stay friends and severed their dating relationship in season 6's "Paradise Bluff." Then again, maybe part of the reason he wouldn't sever it is because he was afraid of what Myra would to to Laura, so he had to protect his "true love."
One thing's for sure, though, whether you prefer Steve with Myra or Laura, Steve sure as heck was very lucky to have Myra, else his stalking would have gotten so out of hand, and HE would have been the one going to jail instead of Myra in the final season. I guess you could say Myra "ate the crazy" for Steve. Too bad that got her nowhere and only helped "her man" get his "true love." Unless one day, she realizes how happy Steve and Laura are together and finally moves on and marries someone who truly needs her more than Steve did.
nicole7477 12-26-2013, 08:33 PM You're right, Steve should've just told Myra to be friends, BUT Myra DEMAND Steve to go steady with her, and you can't do that. That's not how it works. I think because of how she is to Laura, he feel that in order for Myra to not go to jail for murdering Laura, he figure, "hey, let's go steady" even though he didn't want to, and you're right. Myra was a good reason for Steve to not be so overly possessive and have that stalking attitude. That's when Laura drew close to Steve, as friends first, and then lovers. She didn't tell Steve to break up with her. Steve do find Myra attractive, don't get me wrong, but I still think that he's only with Myra because he couldn't have Laura, and his chance with Laura at the time was second to none. He was with her by default.
Neutronman67 12-31-2013, 11:19 AM Yeah Steve Urkel figured that no other girl would want to be with him besides Myra if Laura would not have him.
nicole7477 12-31-2013, 11:37 AM I know. That's a shame. You shouldn't use people by default until you find someone to marry. That's not right. They should've done the Steve and Laura union a lot better, like have them fall for each other in season 6 or 7.
rpm31 12-31-2013, 08:16 PM Yeah Steve Urkel figured that no other girl would want to be with him besides Myra if Laura would not have him.
That's baloney though!! There were probably plenty of other girls in Steve's school who would have loved to date him besides Myra. If Steve were smart, he would have at least attempted to go on dates with other girls before he even met Myra. By the time he met Myra though, it may have been too late for that, as Myra would have just chased away any other girl he tried to date.
nicole7477 12-31-2013, 09:37 PM Yeah, Steve should've at least date around to get some experience with women before either Laura or Myra.
Neutronman67 01-04-2014, 10:31 AM Steve Urkel wanted a girl that was the exact opposite of him that was Laura and Steve was raised to try to get a girl to change her mind, its rare but their are men who were rejected by a girl they had a crush on in high school and years later the girl changed her mind about the guy and decides to go out with him on a date one thing leads to another they are married and bang they had a couple kids, remember opposite attracts, Steve Urkel did not want a girl that had the same personality as him like Myra i bet everytime he looked at Myra he saw himself they were both needy people lol.
Neutronman67 01-04-2014, 10:41 AM Yeah, Steve should've at least date around to get some experience with women before either Laura or Myra.
Steve Urkel was unpopular actually the most unpopular kid in his High School it would not be easy for him to get dates with girls not the popular are stuck up girls but maybe the shy, quiet, desperate girls with no personality girls ignored Steve because of his appearance look at the way he dressed and his high estrogen voice did not help him attract girl, dang i wonder why Steve Urkel did not consider Steroids so his voice could drop lol.
