I always wondered what it would be like to get to see my favorite characters in real life at a live taping see them mess up their lines, i wish i could have seen a live taping of Family Matters back in 1997-1998 then again i would have liked to have seen a kenan&kel live taping back in 1999 it would have been a cool experience, has anyone ever been to a live taping to a sitcom show before ???

I've attended tapings to the following:
Who's the Boss: The first show I saw when I moved out to California. I forget the episode but it was towards the end (1989) and involved Tony's side of the family. I think it was his aunt who was a recurring character.
Designing Woman: the one with the Hurricane. This was during the time Delta Burke wanted off the show--maybe her last year. Between takes, she sat mostly by herself and didn't talk to the rest of the cast. I did see Alice Ghostley try to comfort her, though. I thought Dixie Carter looked even better in person than on tv.
Roseanne: the one where Dan finds a lump in his armpit. Roseanne showed us her latest tattoo at the end of the show.
Good Sports: short-lived Farrah Fawcett/Ryan O'Neal sitcom
Mike and Molly: Just recently took my Mom to see this one. The one where Mike gets shot in the buttocks and they go on a diet. Melissa was nice and acknowledged the audience between takes, but the woman who plays the mother-in-law kept blowing her lines causing numerous retakes.
I saw a couple of unsold pilots or short-lived series for which I forget the names because they never became a hit.
In remember one in which Anna Nicole was a guest star. She was nervous and shaking.

I have never been to a live taping but, I did take a behind the scenes studio tour of where the audience sits on 2 And A Half Men set. I seen the apartment, and store set from the show of the guy who was a spy he was a geek?

not a sitcom but i did attend 2 tapings of the merv griffin show in the mid 80s one had dyancanon chad evertt and mitch shydner as guests and the other had steve landisberg robert ludlum finola huges some guy who started an exersice program with pillows and also harvey korman wandered into the stuido during an off camera break also i tried to attend a taping of gimmie a break but the stuido was overbooked so i did not get in

In 1959 the Cub Scout Troop I belonged to was in "The Peanut Gallery" of The Bozo Show They taped the show in the morning and showed it in the afternoon so we could see ourselves on TV. :D

I never did, but back in the 80s, my mother & sister went to New York and saw a taping of THE COSBY SHOW which was in its first season. It was the one where Danny Kaye guest-starred as a dentist. I just remember her saying one thing about it-there was one scene where they had to do 4 or 5 takes because in every take he'd ad-lib something.

Yes, I sort of recall them having to do a lot of retakes because of flubbed lines.
In my experience, most of them drag on for hours. 4 hours taping seems to be the norm. I remember me and my friend leaving before Designing Woman was finished.
Plus you have to get there in line 1-2 hours in advance because seating is first come first serve unless you get priority tickets.
That's one reason why I seldom go to TV show tapings anymore because of the length of time involved. Talk Shows and game shows are different, though because they don't have a lot of retakes (if any).
In the past, they would let the audience leave if they wanted to, but for Mike and Molly they told us we had to stay for the whole thing so use the bathroom first! And they actually fed us! They gave us a slice of pizza and a bottled water. Show time was at 6:30 pm and we left at around 11:00.
They always have an audience warmer upper/comedian to keep the audience entertained and keep our energy level up between takes.

you HAD to stay for the whole thing? What, they tied everyone to their seat?:lol:

What if someone got sick, or had diarrhea?:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Or a heart attack or appendicitis or a stroke or something???:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I'm sure they would have made an exception IF that happened. LOL
But seriously, they told us several times in line before the show that we had to stay for the whole show so if you can't stay then leave now.
Also, you had to leave your cell phone in your car and you couldn't take it inside with you.
Then, we went through 2 security checkpoints where you walk through a metal detector and they searched the ladies purses.
It was like we were in prison! LOL
This was Warner Brothers studios in Burbank.

Has anybody ever been to a live studio taping on a Sitcom Show One time in florida we were in a building and I looked down and saw this show!!!!! (It looked like a house (I dont know what show it was) -- It was when we were visiting Orlando........

Ya we were upstairs walking in this hall and I looked thru a window down into this big room and in that room was this set,i dunno what show it was...

I thought they let the Audience no which scene is funny and which scene is not funny on Live Tapings, i be watching certain episodes on a sitcom show and can hear people in the background screaming and acting like fools lol.

ILL wasn't yapped, it was filmed.

I would have liked to see the final episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air at the studio filming back in 1996 it would have been an experience.

One time when we were vacationing in disney world,we walked thru this building that was a studio and I looked down from the walkway we were on and there was a show taping.... It was setup to look like a house.... It was neat seeing that! (I dunno what show it was -- I should have asked)
