Hey Guys,
Considering the greatness of METV showing almost uncut Brady Bunch episodes that have scenes now only elsewhere available on DVD, I have watched some Season 1 episodes of Leave it to Beaver. (See my post in the 70's Brady Bunch forum on this topic if interested.)
The later seasons look great. What I have seen of Season one, not so much. I watched, "Beaver's Guest" (Larry stays overnight.) and the sound was really bad! Everyone talked like they had sore throats. It seems that I remember possible sound issues with this episode from other sources.
Worse, METV is editing the closing credits! I watched a second episode from season 1 and the sound was only a little better. But, in both cases, there's a music jump during the closing theme song.
You guys can compare if you want. I think sadly the first season prints may be really starting to show their age! (After all, the average age is 55 years old!) Worse, I don't know how much longer they are going to be preserved. Beaver fans should REALLY think about getting a DVD player and start collecting the seasons! Than you can have LITB forever!
