Ok, I was watching this morning and thought of something as those men were walking up the hill to the hotel..
In later episodes, we see Orrin (Bobbie Joe's BF) riding around in a jeep to the hotel - I thought the only way to get there was by the train...When did they build a road to the Shady Rest?

I think it was during the fourth season they have the road. I know they started showing the whole outside of the hotel during the fourth season.

The wide shot of the hotel is a brilliantly crafted miniature.
In later seasons there was reference to an "old fire road" to explain the arrival of cars at the hotel or the newlyweds' cottage.

I also remember Lisa Douglas driving up by the hotel.

I have been watching the first few episodes of season 1 and it is nice to see the train going on the tracks to destinations. The show I haven't seen in decades, yeah decades and it fun to see a show filmed in the early 1960's. Hard to think the Bradley girls are now in their late 60 or maybe early 70's.

Regarding Orrin's jeep, as a game warden he was driving on the same paths that hunters and others used.
