View Full Version : What's going on with ME TV's showings??
Hazel Anyday 11-11-2013, 09:20 PM For so long Me TV has been showing My 3 Sons in nice episode guide order (granted they always skip the "Bub years" Seasons 1-5 & the final 2 years of the show, seasons 11 & 12, {seems only Canada had the sense to show the entire series}) but in the past month Me TV started skipping episodes and now they're about to start season 6 again. But after just a few S.6 episodes in they then plan to skip 98% of season 6 shows and start showing season 7 shows (though not from the beginning there either)!!! What's going on with Me TV?? Why are they now suddenly skipping massive amounts of episodes? Are they going to take the show off and is this their way of giving a final insult to this truly great show which they've already relegated to a time slot no kid or adult could watch anyway without recording it, 5:30 a.m.! Does anyone know the method to Me TV's madness?

Yea I hate that too. I really hate that they don't show when Polly came on the show but I herd they won't since that's when the show went into syndacation.

True, the hour they show My Three Sons is terrible, I just happened to wake up and catch it... barely.
BachelorCat 05-06-2014, 09:04 PM True, the hour they show My Three Sons is terrible, I just happened to wake up and catch it... barely.
I keep the TV on all night, so having recently discovered MeTV on our cable, had it on when I woke up. My Three Sons was on, the episode where Ernie is up in arms about Uncle Charlie dating Bea Brady. Her granddaughter is shocked also that those two are catting around at their ages. What's with Ernie's voice?
I am also sorry that they're juking those shows around, and cheating the fans out of a straight run through. I just discovered this thread and probably should not have hijacked it with the Ernie question. But for the record, I have been just as put off with the way a lot of my shows get the shoddy treatment this one seems to be getting. I hope MeTV gets it together.
visaman666 05-06-2014, 09:17 PM Ernie was going through puberty, so that's why his voice is strange. Granted, he was just a strange kid overall, that's why he was a foster child. Just kidding!

The only reason I have a chance to watch it is when I get up for work I put it on while I am eating breakfast.
mets82 05-08-2014, 04:27 PM I agree. They show the same ones over and over again. Maybe you get a clip from the really old ones, via flashback but thats it. Btw, I dont know about anybody else but I have a crush on Katie. She is goregous.
Hazel Anyday 05-30-2014, 06:18 PM Well, the final insult via Me TV, they've now taken off My 3 Sons altogether. Thank the Lordy I have them all recorded, as I continue to watch the ENTIRE series from Seasons 1-12 each day as I eat breakfast.:D Whoever invented the video tape and then DVD's, I praise them to the high hiltprops: props: . Without this miracle invention I'd be stuck with the lousy beyond belief modern TV of today.:barf: What a wasteland it's become.:sleep2:
ILuvCarolBurnett 07-05-2014, 09:41 PM MeTv has an odd schedule. I wish they would move the classic sitcoms to early or late afternoon instead of at 5 AM. Or in the evening. Would prefer to see My Three Sons over Gilligan's Island or Happy Days or Welcome Back Kotter....

Yes, they have.:( It was on a little early for me, but I was glad it was on if I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, at least something to watch and start my day with a smile ! Sad they took it off. :( I wished they had showed the black and white Bub episodes (I remember years ago on Nick at Nite they did)! Back when Nick at Nite and TV Land actually played old shows! The Polly episodes, never saw them since they were first run. I'd love to see them!
Guess where Ernie (Barry Livingston) popped up? I saw the Jersey Boys movie a couple weeks ago and he played an accountant. Just a small roll but it was him!!!! ;)

Hazel Anyday 07-16-2014, 05:35 AM I saw Ernie in an episode of Mad Men not too long ago. Though I didn't know it was him till I read the credits, his looks have really changed. Another who has really changed is Quentin Collins from Dark Shadows, saw him also in an episode or 2 of Mad Men, he's turned into an old man.

I'm kinda glad Family Affair is gone. That show was a little too slow paced for early morning.

A year later, but Ernie also recently popped up in the Halloween comedy Fun Size.
Hazel Anyday 10-15-2015, 07:33 PM Wow this is good news for My 3 Sons. I'm very surprised that they're taking Family Affair off so fast after they just brought it back. I was hoping they'd get to some episodes they skipped last time ME TV ran the series but they didn't even keep it on long enough to get to those later episodes.
Now, I'm really going to hope against hope and show what a dreamer I really am and hope that this time ME TV will not skip huge blocks of episodes of MY 3 SONS the way the did over and over again the last time they gave their half hearted attempt at showing MY 3 SONS.
First they don't even show any of the b/w episodes, a crime right off the bat, but then they skip giant blocks of episodes (literally 25 episodes at a time were skipped again and again) of the few color episodes that they do show. Can ME TV this time really be expected to do anything different than they did last time they ran this excellent series? Why can't they simply run the series from beginning (b/w shows) to end (Season 12) and I guarantee praise for ME TV will fall from the heavens like raindrops.:notworthy

It's not MeTV's fault that they can''t show "My Three Sons" properly. From another thread I posted in a couple days ago:
It's my understanding that the black and white episodes of "My Three Sons" are currently not available for syndication. According to the CBS syndication bible, only 148 out of 380 episodes are available. These episodes are from seasons 6-10.
syndicationbible.cbstvd.com/series/my_three_sons/my_three_sons.htm
I checked on "Family Affair" and CBS does offer 134 out of 138 episodes for syndication. So, you can yell at MeTV for pulling it off too soon.

TV Guy 10-21-2015, 03:35 AM In the past few years, ME-TV acquired the black-and-white episodes of Petticoat Junction and they had never been shown in broadcast syndication. Starting on Monday, ME-TV will show episodes of "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke" that weren't part of the original syndication packages and were previously only seen on cable.
Now may be the time to write to ME-TV and ask them to make the B&W episodes of M3S their next acquisition. They clearly care about stuff like this (unlike TV Land).
Hazel Anyday 10-22-2015, 07:52 PM That's what I mean. These shows didn't disappear off the face of the earth. They're still around just sitting in a vault. All it takes is the effort to put them on TV, the b/w's were on TV Land as recently as the early 2000's, they haven't disappeared. And I know the season 11 & 12 shows were shown in Canada and Australia in the '90's, they haven't evaporated. With some effort I'm sure the powers that be could have these shows available for syndication or at least leased to ME TV exclusively for now.:talk:
biffbronson 10-22-2015, 08:54 PM I remember Hallmark was showing Seasons 11 & 12 around early 2001.
It's really sad that syndication packages that were put together decades ago are still affecting what's available today. Those seasons need to be aired, right along with the others. I'll admit that not all of the episodes were great, but I think anyone interested in the series who hasn't seen Chip as a married man -- will want to!
ILuvCarolBurnett 10-23-2015, 02:00 AM Most stations prefer only to air between 100 to 150 episodes of a series because it becomes profitable faster. Series with more than 200 or so episodes seem to often not get all the episodes aired.

also NICK AT NITE showed them in the 90s (and I think that was the first time they had been shown since their original airing) and THE FAMILY CHANNEL (now ABC Family) also showed them for a brief time in the 90s.
Rewinder 10-23-2015, 05:09 PM Boy i sure do miss when it was the family channel the programming was so damn good on there, I remember that Lassie TV Series that aired on there.
Hazel Anyday 11-28-2015, 10:35 PM Right, and the good thing about the Family Channel's airings of the b/w My 3 Sons was that they showed the b/w episodes that Nick at Nite skipped consistently again and again. Thanks to that I was able to plug the holes in my Sons set. I continue to enjoy the entire 3 Sons series thanks to the miracle of DVD recordings.
I'm so glad I don't need to rely on TV channels to see what I want to see when I want to see it. #1 some stations disappear all together (Nostalgia channel, Family Channel etc etc) other channels will stab their loyal customers (audience) in the back by switching the programming off of what people tuned into the station to see in the first place (classic TV) and instead now can only find crappy new shows (hello TV Land-biggest disappointment in many a year). But the trusty DVD is always there by your side when you need it. Thanks Mr. DVD inventor.:)

I wonder why those particular 4 episodes, 2 each from Season 2 & Season 3, are not syndicated. Maybe music rights? Does anyone know?
