At the European Music Awards Sunday, Miley Cyrus took full advantage of marijuana being legal in Amsterdam and smoked a joint on stage as she accepted the award for best video, Us Weekly reports.



Cyrus, 20, won the night's top prize for her controversial 'Wrecking Ball' clip and lit up a celebratory joint as she made her way up to the stage.

An insider tells Us that it wasn't the only time she indulged during the evening, and that she was also smoking consistently backstage.



Cyrus, whose racy performance turned heads at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year, also performed twice at the EMAs, singing 'We Can't Stop' and 'Wrecking Ball'.

Miley Cyrus Responds To Pot Smoking Controversy Following EMAs

As your newsfeed has no doubt informed you several hundred times by now, Miley Cyrus sparked a J onstage last night during MTV’s European Music Awards.

In the wake of the fresh batch of hand-wringing over her Just Being Miley, Cyrus took to Twitter to lay out her case. “Sometimes in life you just gotta decide to not give AF,” she wrote.





Meanwhile, MTV finds themselves in the good graces of a group that typically condemns them: The Parents Television Council.

That group applauded MTV for editing out the footage of Cyrus smoking when the show was rebroadcast on Stateside MTV.



“Last night MTV made a responsible decision and they executed it perfectly,” PTC President and M.I.A. nemesis Tim Winter said.

“It is unclear whether MTV’s actions suggest stricter content guidelines for its TV-14 programming, or whether this is just an example of the old saying that ‘even a broken clock is right twice each day.’ We certainly hope it is the former. We applaud MTV for taking responsible actions to eliminate the drug use from its U.S. broadcast, and we urge them to make that a uniform policy for all of its programming.”





Cyrus will get another chance to scandalize people once again when she performs at the American Music Awards on Sunday, November 24, and then every night for several months when her Bangerz tour kicks off on Valentine’s Day 2014.

How this qualifies as being newsworthy is way beyond me.

If her intention is to score more fans, what makes her think that going down the road that she has been going down is the way to make such a thing happen when not everyone does with themselves what it is that she chooses to do with herself?

Who cares what the little twerp does? It's not like she was shooting up heroin while she was on stage. Quite frankly, I could care less that the skank lit up a doobie.

She's trying way too hard to be edgy and shocking and it just looks like a little girl dressing up in her mom's high heels and makeup. I really like "Wrecking Ball" though.

Yes, it was a joint.

Miley Cyrus confirmed that the cigarette she smoked onstage at Sunday's MTV Europe Music Awards did contain marijuana, and said she just thought it would be something funny for her fans.





Appearing on the UK's Capital FM radio station and carrying the bag she pulled the joint out of onstage, Cyrus explained how she came up with the idea for her stunt.

"It's not something that I think about," she said when asked whether she considered the headlines that her behavior would generate. "I was just walking out of my room and then I was like, 'Oh I have this in my bag, that will be really funny.' And I didn't say anything to anybody -- it's not that I think about that and I don't tell anyone I'm gonna do it."

She added, "Some people I think over think so much…that's not why I do it. I just did it mostly because I knew the fans in Amsterdam would love it and they started going crazy when I did it…But I don't really care what the media says because I don't Google myself, so I don't know what they say. And I don't care."





And what became of the infamous joint?

"You know afterwards we had the joint and we're all, 'Should we keep this as, like, the joint?' And then we're like, 'No, it's fine, just smoke it, just finish it off,'" she explained.





Despite the stunt, Cyrus thinks people in Europe still paid attention to her EMAs performance -- as opposed to after her scandalous VMAs performance, when the focus became the twerking, the teddy bears and her barely-there outfit.

"It's just funny because after you do something like that, everyone doesn't want to talk as much about your performance, but this is one of my favorite things about coming to Europe is even though that happened, it's not like the main focus of the night," she said.

"Everyone was hitting me up about my performance and how I sounded and things like that, which is so different than the states. Because even when I did the VMAs, everything just became about the teddy bears or what I was wearing…People over here kind of like to listen and they take in all of it."


Yes, they inhaled the whole experience.
