(Ralph & Ed are reading about the war veterans in the paper.)

Ralph: "Boy Norton, take a look at the number of living war veterans that are going to be marching in the parade."

Ed: "Yes, they are sweet kids for defending our freedom and our way of life."

Ralph: "You can say that again Norton. They have made our country safe from those BUMS."

Ed: "Truer words have never been spoken. We should make them all honorary Raccoons."

Ralph: "You are so right Norton. They would be proud Raccoons."

Ed: "With the Afghan war ending by 2015 I hope, hopefully our country start to be rested."

Ralph: "That's right unless another country decides to stick their nose in our business."

Ed: "You know something? I work with a war veteran. He was in the 1991 Gulf War and he is proud to have served this country and he is proud of our servicemen and women."

Ralph: "Me too. All of us should take a moment of silence today to remember our veterans that have died."

(Silence.)

Ed: "That was great Ralph. Thanks to our servicemen and women, this country is still free and great."

(They both sing "God Bless the USA.")

(Jackie Gleason walks on stage. Audience applauds.)

Jackie: "First, I want to acknowledge the servicemen and women in our audience today. Stand up and take a bow all you fine servicemen and women."

(The camera shows them standing up and bowing.)

Jackie: "You people are the greatest for defending our country and our way of life and we all wish our troops a safe trip home. They deserve it."

(Audience cheers.)

Jackie: "Good night everyone."
