View Full Version : What's Up With the Craze of Taking Photos of Food?
JamesG 11-07-2013, 12:31 PM I heard that this is a new craze (don't know how long it's been around) of taking photos of your food before you eat it at a restaurant. People then upload the pics to Tumblr, Instagram...
I went out to eat w/ this girl and before I would touch the appetizers and main meal she would literally shout, "wait, wait!", and snap a picture of my food while I just stare at her.
I don't get it...

Penny Lane 11-07-2013, 01:01 PM I have no idea what you're talking about. I guess I don't get out much!Have I been missing something important?
Yeah, most of my nieces and nephews (20s, teens, and elementary school age) take pictures of their food. I've seen 'em start to dig into their plate with a fork to take the first bite, then suddenly put down the fork and reach for their phone/camera/device to take a photo.
Wow, just imagine if we did that when we were kids. We could've uploaded our cornflakes breakfast, our PB&J lunch, or our meatloaf & mashed potatoes & corn dinner to Tumblr or Instagram!
JamesG 11-19-2013, 12:05 PM It's definitely a young people craze, but I don't get it.
I understand taking a picture of some expensive dish that's over $100.00 (maybe), but not just steak and potatoes.

Me neither, but I'm just glad that they're not taking surprise pictures of me. (Even more annoying than the food pictures, in my opinion)!
icecream 11-19-2013, 07:23 PM Closely related to that craze: people posting tons of recipes on their Facebook accounts. It gets annoying.
ponytail 11-20-2013, 06:13 AM I don't get it either. On my facebook page some of my relatives are always posting pictures of food. It is getting annoying.

I agree! Facebook has turned into Food Network! I'm sick of it too! Also people constantly stating their political views! Enough already!

Hate to admit it, I am guilty of this. I'm a bit of a foodie and when I (not as often as I would like) am at a 4 star establishment and encounter a dish that is extremely well presented or just mind-blowingly awesome, I will post it to FB.
If I ever post a pic of my QPw/cheez at McD's, I'm either being ironic or it is some sort of cry for help.

Are you saying that McDonald's is not a 4 star establishment? That's an outrage!

Not an insult; when I have a bad cold/flu--NOTHING tastes better than a QPw/Cheez! Those and Cinnamon PopTarts are my sicky comfort food.:)

I love cinnamon poptarts but not with that darn frosting. :(

I haven't dined at McD's in a long time...close to two years, I guess. But I have a bad cold right now, so maybe a QP w/cheez is just what the doctor ordered!
