Come 2014. The channel will cease to exist. :(

No more old GH marathons for the Holidays. This is the only thing that makes me depressed about it.

This makes me somewhat sad because I used to use to watch DAYS on Soapnet when it was interrupted on NBC for breaking news or the president ranting about something pointless.

I sometimes watch Gilmore Girls on Soapnet. Nothing else though, and I presume GG will still air on ABCFamily.

I Dvr DOOL, every day. I guess I'll have to Dvr NBC. By the way, Soap Net was supposed to have ceased a couple of years ago, and be replaced with some children's channel. It ended up staying on, what happened there?

They jumped the shark when they started adding shows like Gilmore Girls and such IMHO.

They only have 2 soap operas, Days Of Our Lives and General Hospital. What happened to The Young and Restless?

Soapnet lost Young and the Restless rights to TVGN.

All About $$$$$ as usual and who owns TVGN??? CBS!

Now the Prospect Online only versions of All My Children & One Life To Live have been both officially cancelled, OWN tried a summer test run of these dreadful cheap productions, but they were doomed from the start with delayed productions, lawsuits, etc. As SoapNet kept airing reruns of AMC & OLTL they rather have sued then help them be successful by airing them on SoapNet because if successful it would have showed that by cancelling them in the first place it was a mistake.

GH is now the longest running scripted television series in the history of the medium as it continues all alone on ABC.....E! stupidly ran a crawl recently announcing "The Simpsons" as the longest running series on TV....WRONG!!! maybe in primetime (replacing "Ozzie & Harriet") buts c'mon young usually wrong writers, its a cartoon in the first place and GH produces 5 hours a week on a shoestring budget that keep getting smaller, yet the ratings are up! SO AGAIN "GENERAL HOSPITAL" is the longest running scripted series in HISTORY on TV and if cancelled tomorrow will hold the record for a very, very long time. If you asked the average person that bit of trivia, 10 out of 10 would not answer correctly yes it's GENERAL HOSPITAL! Remember Scripted drama, so Meet The Press, The Today Show, The Tonight Show, etc, all don't count.

Shame, Shame on You ABC/Disney for axing SoapNet.....you went from producing original productions like two seasons of GH Nightshift plus another series, you had a rich history of daytime dramas in vaults to retool the entire network with shows like Dark Shadows, The Edge Of Night, Ryans Hope, Port Charles, Loving, Decades of All My Children, One Life To Live.....plus yes continue with Veronica Mars (Duh a movie is being made by fan contributions from Kickstarter) Gilmore Girls and of course 90210. How about adding reruns of Desperate Housewives, Nashville, Twin Peaks, Life Goes On? No too creative!

Or search out and spend some money and turn SoapNet into a Retro Daytime Channel with a combination of ABC Daytime dramas and never b4 reruns of talk shows like Mike Douglas, Dinah!, John Davidson, Merv Griffin, so much was/is available that has never been even tried.

Some female ABC executive moran announced the end of SoapNet 2 years ago with another Disney Boys cartoon channel....wow how original? Instead of dipping into the archives and trying something different....oh yeah, the executive came from network tv, where you just copy what everyone else does instead of thinking with a creative mind. Oh yes I spent 32 years working with the TV mindless of that kind!

^I agree 100%!

It's a shame. SOAPnet really could've been a good thing. I would've loved to seen "AMC" episodes from the 90's. The entire run of "Port Charles" would have been nice---especially the first 3 years. "Soap" and "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" would fit in nicely, also. There's so many ways they could've retooled the network instead of just axing it.

does it really shock you? The quality went down years ago when they thought shows like MVP, The Fashionista Dairies and Southern Belles were the answer instead of putting on classic soaps.

I agree with you. They could have retooled it and aired sitcoms about soaps and some more primetime soaps as well. Classic ones like Peyton Place. They also could have aired classic soaps like Edge of Night and The Secret Storm.

Yeah. I really wish they would have reaired PC. Since I'm a huge fan of Jon Lindstrom's I would have loved to seen him as Kevin more than I get to on current episodes of GH.
