The FCC's acting chairwoman is questioning whether sports blackouts are still in the public interest.

don't they only blackout games that don't sell out?

the real question is, why aren't they selling out every game - many successful teams do, and if they aren't what are they doing wrong? Are the ticket prices too high, poor attitude from players, no success on the field/ice/court, poor media attitude - what are they doing wrong?

TV coverage builds more interest in the team; most fans would want to go to a game in person if they could afford it and the team made it a good experience.

It depends on the team. If the owner didn't buy up the tickets in Tampa Bay, they would be blacked out because they are playing bad.

The Chargers game against the Colts was almost blacked out because not enough ticket sales was going on.

Another is probably the drunk fans, the high prices at the concession stands and ticket prices too.

I don't know about all teams but I know the Chargers have ticket packages, my mom and I wanted to go to the Cowboys game. During the pre-season there was a package of tickets, you have to by either the Seahawk game and a Cowboys game in order to go to the Cowboys game. So after the Seahawk game there was a new package, if you want to go to the Cowboys game, you have to buy tickets for the Bengals game.

We didn't want to do that.
