I agree. Many sitcoms have had a ghost/haunted house themed episode, usually broadcast around Halloween. This one was among the best of them. (Barney and Gomer in the haunted house on Andy Griffith was another good one).

I loved when 'safe' shows did scary episodes. They always excited me even though I knew there would be a non-supernatural explanation ;) This one was very scary, with the horror movie inspired music and visuals.
