I don't mean to rain on anyones parade but this was the worst show I've ever seen. I got the entire series a few years ago off of Amazon. Don't get me wrong, I love Polly Holliday - but the magic just wasn't there.

I think everyone knows that but still want the series since it's connected to Alice

I could watch Polly Holliday read the damn news and i would still find her entertaining! She was the real star of Alice and Linda Lavin even knew this and that's why Mel Diner became too small for Flo! Don't let anyone on here discourage any fan from buying the Flo show on DVD! Polly Holliday is incredible on this show and if you love Flo, you will like this lost gem and if you don't, then you.....CAN KISS MY GRITS or Polly's! The choice of course is yours!

I agree. Alice was always my least favorite character. Flo, Vera, and Mel were my favorites.

I disagree. There are at least fifteen really terrific, very funny episodes. Some others are better than average, a few are mediocre, and there's one real dud. Overall, the series scores a B, the very best episodes at least an A- in my book. Excellent cast.

Yeah it was in the top 10 in season 1 and not too bad in season 2 plus we have to remember back then there was no

DVR's
VCR's

So people had to make a decision on what they wanted to watch

If Warner wanted to put out a TV Favorites, the Best 6 episodes of Flo, what would those six episodes on the disc be? I would definitely start with Pilot and my other two would be Mel's visit and Flo's Father. What does everyone else consider to be the best favorite episodes from Flo?

The Thanksgiving episode should definitely be on there.

Gee, I really do love the two-part Thanksgiving episode. It's high on the drama, and is a tear-jerker. So many of the episodes of FLO play out like"dramadies".

The pilot, HOMECOMING, is very good. But I have to go with the one's that made me laugh the hardest, and have the best balance of what FLO aspired to be (as I see it anyway). I have just watched every episode twice, and for me the choices would be:

SHOWDOWN AT THE YELLOW ROSE
DESERTED ISLANDS
THE PRICE OF AVOCADOS-part one
THE PRICE OF AVOCADOS-part two
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
NO MEN'S LAND*

I really love the last one, but as stubborn as I am, would be willing to swap:
WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR (Mel's visit).

Besides What's Are Friends for, do any other episode of Flo make reference to Alice?

"The Diner" is mentioned once or twice (I think), but no other character from ALICE is ever mentioned by name. As you know, Vic was the only cast member to appear.

I'd be willing to bet Lavin would have had a fit if Alice had been mentioned.

Ok, I just watched 'em back to back, and WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR? wins! Love both, but the one with Mel has a great ending, and Vic Tayback is so appealing.

I'm so glad! It's funny, but even a die-hard fan like me, is brought up short by some of the episodes, that I really didn't think much of at first. The only episode that I cannot bring myself to really enjoy is GREY ESCAPE. Not that there is nothing else that could have been a lot better in other EPs, but I just find many things to be better than even I had thought. Like FLO'S CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE THIRD KIND. I am rather charmed by it now.
