The reboot train keeps rollin'!
Vulture reports that a "re-imagining" of Supernatural drama Charmed is in the works at CBS. No talent has been attached to the project yet, but a script is being written by Party of Five co-creator Chris Keyser and partner Sydney Sidner . The original series ran for eight seasons from 1998-2006

:angryfire Is there any excuse for all these reboots of old scripted TV shows? They are a waste of scheduling, and the likelihood of them being picked up to series is zero. This is the era where it's eally hard to create/build new original shows

The pilot process is a joke, they really need to do a better job of filtering out weak concepts (that have little to no chance in succeeding) before pilot stage.

"They really are running out of ideas (https://twitter.com/rosemcgowan/status/393837121200332800) in Hollywood," the former "Charmed" star tweeted. Meanwhile, Alyssa Milano (https://twitter.com/Alyssa_Milano/status/393826052499185664) had no reaction.

All the reboots have failed so why continue with another dumb idea that won't work? If they're going to throw money away, then they should just give it to me.

Not all reboots have failed, Hawaii 5-O is still on, granted that's 1 out of how many though.

Milano shared her thoughts on Twitter: "The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday. It feels too close."

I agree with Alyssa Milano. It's WAY too close. "Charmed" only ended its run in 2006. Yes, that's 7 years ago now- but that seems way too soon to do a remake all of a sudden. Perhaps if it was done as a spinoff of some sort, then they might even be able to get Alyssa Milano and her costars from the original show to make appearances on it or something- that might be something fans would be more interested in. Any time the original stars can be involved with a new version, it helps make it more interesting for fans of the original, who pretty much are going to be some of the chief audience for a new show.
(I'm primarily thinking of "Girl Meets World" here- that spinoff show is doing a good job of building off "Boy Meets World" by maintaining key original cast members and getting others interested in guest starring and so forth, while still giving itself time to build up the original characters too.)
Of course, I've never really watched "Charmed", so I honestly don't care about the original or a remake. But that's some of my thoughts on remakes in general.

It makes no sense at all. How hard is it to come up with an original show about witches? If Lifetime can do it, so can CBS.

I actually liked the Shannen seasons. They were my favorite episodes.
After thinking about it, the news of a remake makes me want to watch my "Charmed" DVDs and forget all about the dumb remake.

There were rumors of that a few years back. A movie version.
