View Full Version : Antenna TV is now a complete JOKE
TVFactFan 10-24-2013, 06:22 PM I can't believe this stupid a$$ programming schedule for the fall that eliminates Married With Children and expands MAUDE???
Sanford and Son is crazy glued to syndication like a nat on a dog's a$$
I am officially done with this channel, the new additions don't excite me and they never tried to give Benson a better slot. You can Me-tv and Antenna TV digital cousins now
STEAMED.COM:mad:
Pavan 10-24-2013, 06:53 PM You're complaining about Married with Children put on hiatus but complain that Sanford & Son is still on? You don't make any sense. Both shows have been in syndication non-stop.
And Maude does well for them, as does Good Times, All in the Family and Sanford & Son. People watch. They added six shows, they aren't in business to just please you--the classic narcissist.

Why not try Benson in primetime???
Why not try another show in primetime instead of the Lear shows?
I bet the Lear shows won't do good if they came on at 11pm once a week. And married with children may have been in syndication but it always came on at a time when no one can see it which is 3am to 6am on TBS
BigManMike 10-24-2013, 08:56 PM I agree. I like the Norman Lear shows, but they have been overplayed and could use a break. I'm glad they dropped the block programming, but I don't like that they move Diff'rent Strokes to an earlier time because I'm not home then. I guess I will record it some and watch later. I'm also disappointed I never got to watch Benson. I don't know why they even showed it to begin with if they were going to treat it so badly. This schedule has disappointed me. I hope to buy many more DVDs in 2014.

janet42 10-26-2013, 08:04 AM I also agree that Antenna TV plays the Lear shows way too much. I wonder why "Three's Company" hasn't been put back on? It's been off the air since January.
Mr. Television 10-26-2013, 08:12 AM They need to add ODAAT,Alice and Chico and the Man. Otherwise I don't mind it. At least all the shows are classics.
Tubehead 10-26-2013, 09:16 AM November 3rd their going to add mister ed, patty duke show flipper and green acres. they also show bewitched and I dream of Jennie.

I never thought I would hate these shows but I have to say that I do now
Good Times and Sanford and Son

And that's exactly why I have not watched the channel in 2013 that much

I still like them. I don't watch them all the time so I don't get tired of them. If you watch any show continuously for years like that it will get to you. I remember I watched TC so much back in the early 80's that I would know the lines by heart. lol I then didn't watch it for about 15 years and it was new to me again. lol

Funny that I never feel that way when I watch these two shows and I have watched them over and over and over lol
The Jeffersons and George Lopez:lol:
ThomasE 10-27-2013, 01:19 AM I am enjoying the lineup. MWC can be found on at least two other channels. I like the fact that Maude is getting the airtime since it has not been seen as much in the past on other stations. I love Antenna TV.

What other channel can MWC be seen on besides TBS? And is it during a time before midnight?

Uh-Uh Solomon. There are no rules as to when it has to air. People can record it on DVR or VHS. LOL. TBS and MTV2 was airing it. I thought it was still airing but if not, then TBS is good. At least it is still airing which more than what I could say about other shows. Mission Impossible comes on at 2am on Me-TV but my mother will DVR the show and watch it at a later time. Things may not be the way you want them to be but at least you still have some options to work with.

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately
1. I downgraded my cable in June and don't have MTV2
2. I don't have a DVR to record the eps off TBS

Once again, that's your problem.
ThomasE 10-28-2013, 12:53 AM Once again, that's your problem.
Plus, you may be able to catch it on ION in the morning and if anything, buy the set. Make it work if you want to see the show. Just some more options for you.

Buffyboy323 10-28-2013, 11:30 PM As of November 2013, these are the shows I like on Antenna TV:
7:00pm Good Times
7:30pm Good Times

10:30 All in the Family
11:00pm Maude
11:30pm Maude
1:00am Bewitched
1:30am Bewitched
I wouldn't call this a "complete joke" of a schedule. Two of these shows aren't even complete on DVD.

MWC has always been on at unwatchable times............4am/5am which was way before digital TV
last time I seen MWC at a watchable time was back in the 90's on my local channel

My issue with Antenna are these shows below
Good Times
All in the family
Sanford and Son

These are classics! And are clearly doing well enough to remain in the same time slots they've been in for a while. I guess "overexposed" is the better term here, not "complete joke."
I remember Married...With Children in heavy rotation on FX in the late '90s-mid 00's. The 6:00pm time slot is not bad at all. And it's currently on TBS (mornings, I know, I know!), and on random times on the VH1 Classics channel. It's complete on DVD, and the entire series was available to stream on Netflix not too long ago.

I always hated that Good times got more exposure than the Jeffersons

It may be time to move the Norman Lear shows to earlier or later in the evening. They shouldn't all be removed from the schedule though.
Catsrule, not that I'm a big Bewitched fan, but I might peak in here and there during the late-night encores. I don't usually watch TV at 6:00pm.

Sorry that you are still at the mercy of programmers but most of the rest of the world have jobs and money and can buy DVDs or pay for a DVR or DVD recorders. It must be hard being 30 years behind the times. Maybe if you save up you can buy one of them newfangled Betamax machines and learn how to timeshift. It's the latest craze!
ThomasE 10-30-2013, 07:01 PM Plus, Solomon, Good Times came back into the syndication world on TBS in January of 2000. 5:05am in the morning. Would have gotten up in the morning to watch it? LOL.
Mr. Television 10-30-2013, 07:22 PM Benson, Soap, Barney Miller & WKRP should have had the daily treatment.

I didn't discover Good Times in syndication until the summer of 2002. THat was my first time seeing the show on TV since 1989/90 which is why i was so glued to the tube that summer
That was a memorable summer,
1.discovery of sitcomsonline
2.seeing Good times for the first time in 14 years
3. The summer marathons on nick@nite
4. Internet Access in my own home for the first time in life......webtv

what ever happen to web tv ?
Mace Dolex 10-31-2013, 03:00 PM Wow it's interesting for me because I'm a child of the 80's so the only show on AntennaTV I even care for at the moment is Diff'rent Strokes, all the other shows mentioned were A) Before my time or B) Dull and boring.
Sure wish they'd bring back Three's Company, Three's A Crowd and Too Close For Comfort.

It ended on September 30, 2013 since it could no longer compete in the technology world
BigManMike 10-31-2013, 09:14 PM I wish they would change up the prime time shows too. They have plenty of new shows but yet they have to put them all on during the day or the middle of the night. I agree, the Norman Lear shows should move to a different time of day. They're still going strong but they've mostly been on in the same time ever since Antenna TV started. Last night I was enjoying some of the Bewitched marathon and I wish they could show it Jeannie, and Green Acres at night. As another person was saying, WKRP, Soap, and Benson should have daily treatment. The reason WKRP only airs one night a week is because that is all the contract will allow. Only two episodes a week for Soap was somewhat too little, although when it first came to Antenna TV it was showing four, which is fair enough for the amount of time it ran. Benson was treated the worst and I hope one day it will come back and have a better run.

I discovered SitcomsOnline in the Spring of 2003. I still remember lurking the boards during much of my eighth grade computer class.
I discovered Good Times on TBS in 2002, weekday mornings before Mama's Family and Saved by the Bell. I didn't watch often until around 2005 though, on TV Land.
Nick at Nite during the Summer of 2002 was special to me too. That was the first Summer I had Nick at Nite in my bedroom, and I used to tape most of the lineup. I remember they had Cheers, Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Three's Company, and All in the Family. Wasn't that the "Camp Nick at Nite" year?
