I'd agree with that. Some of the first-season shots of the Wilsons' backyard actually were shot outside, but not many. Even the design of the backyard changes from season to season, and also is inconsistent in where the garages are placed based on shots from the street.

Continuity error's throughout the seasons which I did not notice as a child but sure do now as I am watching them hundreds of times over and over.... The houses on the Ranch did not seem to have backyards so I am guessing they were filmed elsewhere...Always trying to reference some clouds or sky but with the B & W it's very difficult in the backyard scenes... Portions of the Mitchell house and back sunroom is sometimes visible when Jay opens the gate from the Mitchell's to the Wilson's yard...Could have all been studio though........ I'll just have to watch a couple more episodes tonight and pay attention to some more detail....

Chris over at: http://www.dennistvshow.com/dennis-neighborhood.php mentioned that he thought the backyard scenes in season 1 was the actual Wilson backyard but then sometime after season 1, they paved the back area for a parking lot..........Too bad....
