Have you lost your Southern hospitality?

Could someone maybe help me out here... Do you think that it is really true that people in the South are nicer than people in the North? I hear this all time, and I being a Southerner find it interesting...do any of y'all find any truth to it? I haven't been up North to know so...

Well it has been a really long time since I have been down south, and when I was I was a little kid so I wouldn't have paid much attention....

...but I would speculate Southerns' reputations of being nicer are overblown. Which is not to say that you all aren't nice....all I'm saying is, I'm willing to bet that Northerners and Southerners simply have a different way of relating to each other, and the way Southerners are used to relating to others comes off on the surface as being nicer. I don't think that Northerners are somehow inherently more rude. I just think maybe they don't talk to strangers as much or something, which may come off as stand-offish or rude or something, but it really isn't.

Who the heck knows for sure? I'm just full of wild speculations over here, I could be completely wrong....

Hm, sounds good to me, Bootsy. :D
I don't really know...I've only been down south once...back in second grade. Since I couldn't actually understand half of what the people were saying, I don't know if they were being nice/friendly or not... LOL  I know tons of nice people up here, and the southerners I've talked to on these boards seem nice too so, who knows?

I know what you mean. No offence to you or anything, but I've had a few too many run-ins with NYers.

Yall should come up to Springfield. But not unless you know how to speak Spanish. All my friends run around yelling in their Spanish while I am left to stand there cluelessly trying to speak and translate it. :D

Ohhhhhhhhhh well. -shrugs-

LOL Not all people in Springfield speak Spanish! In fact, half of the kids in my school are failing that subject... I don't know if certain regions etc. have mean or whatever people there...it's probably just the individual people. I mean, you can't generalize that ALL New Yorkers are mean, or ALL southerners are nice. I dunno.
