My sister went to L.A. this past summer and she brought back a brochure of a crime scene tour from down there. Some of these have appeared on UM.
I was just wondering if anyone has been on these kind of tours?

Charles Manson Family Murders
Perhaps the most violent and gruesome two days in Los Angeles history began sometime after mid-night on the evening of August 9, 1969. Four members of the Manson Family entered the estate of movie director Roman Polanski and his actress wife Sharon Tate. They proceeded to execute Ms. Tate, who was eight months pregnant and three friends, including coffee heiress Abigail Folger and a friend of the caretaker.
The next day, Leo and Rosemary La Bianca were found by their daughter, son and son-in-law. Mr. La Bianca was found between two couches with a fork protruding from his stomach. The killers had carved the word "War" on his chest. Rosemary was found in the bedroom, pillow case over her head tied with a lamp cord. She sustained 41 stab wounds.
Join us as we explore the history behind these violent crimes. How did the police finally break the case. Were these cover-up murders? Why is Manson still a cult figure 30 years after the murders? Let's figure it out together.
Robert Blake / Bonny Lee Bakley Murder
Robert Blake grew up in television. In the late 1940s, at age 4, he was the star of the original "Our Gang" television series who later gained fame as the star of "Baretta", a television show about a fictional detective in the 1970s. He not only acted as a tough guy on screen, he lived it in real life.
In the late 1990s, he met and married Bonny Lee Bakley. Their tumultuous relationship ended on May 4, 2001, when Blake took Bonny to his favorite restaurant, Vitello's, in an effort to try and reconcile their marriage. After dinner, Blake walked Bonny to their car and then went back to the restaurant to retrieve a gun that allegedly fell out of his pocket. Upon his return, he found Bonny shot and slumped in her seat, fatally wounded.
Retrace their steps that fateful evening as we visit Vitello's and explore the facts that transpired both prior to and subsequent to the crime. Many inconsistencies occured that night, along with conflicting accounts of what transpired. We'll provide the facts, you decide what happened.
North Hollywood Shoot-Out
On February 28, 1997, at approximately 9:28am, two armed men dressed in full body armor entered the Bank of America in North Hollywood. After herding the customers into the vault and taking over $300,000 in cash, the men exited the bank. Waiting for them outside the bank were over 50 armed police officers. Over the next 44 minutes, a running gun battle took place in the nearby residential neighborhood. Six policemen and two civilians were shot; all survived. The two gunmen were killed.
Now you can experience the actual crime. Follow the path the two armed men took, from exiting the bank and walking through the residential neighborhood to their eventual demise. Bullet holes still remain in the walls and you will truly feel the sense of what happened that fateful day.
Your guide may have been one of the responding officers to the initial crime scene.
Black Dahlia Murder
Elizabeth Short desperately wanted to be famous. Moving from the East Coast, the lure of Hollywood and its excitement drew her like a magnet. Little did she know that some 60 years later, in death, she was perhaps the victim of the most famous unsolved murder in Los Angeles history. She became the Black Dahlia.
On January 15, 1947, a lady walking with her daughter discovered Elizabeth's body in a vacant lot. She was killed in a particularly gruesome manner. The killer tortured her for 2 days, stabbed her repeatedly, not enough to kill her, but inflicting tremendous pain. The killer then applied lit cigarettes to various parts of her body. The final act, an ear-to-ear slashing of her throat, ended her agony.
Her body was found cut in half, at the waist. Every drop of blood was drained from each half and her mutilated body was scrubbed clean. Her hair had even been shampooed.
Follow us as we retrace the crime and see why this case is still so captivating 60 years later.

O.J. Simpson
The most famous trial in Los Angeles history, the murder trial of O.J. Simpson captivated the United States and the world. As a famous actor and athlete, Simpson garnered attention wherever he went. In 1985, Simpson married Nicole Brown. During and after their marriage, Nicole placed several 911 calls regarding Simpson's abusive behavior.
This behavior culminated on June 12, 1994, where Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman were found brutally and savagely stabbed outside Nicole's Brentwood condominium. The crime scene was covered in blood, with the two victims lying a few feet apart. This was a very "personal" murder and in viewing the crime scene, we will explore the facts of this horrific crime.
Nightstalker
From June 1984 through August 1985, Richard Ramirez was responsible for the deaths of 14 people, both male and female. The victims ranged in age from 16 to 83 years old. A devout follower of Satanism, Ramirez believed Satan was guiding him in the commission of these crimes.
Oftentimes, Ramirez mutilated his victims and in one instance, he used a victim's tube of lipstick to draw a pentagram at the crime scene. Most of the victims were asleep in their bed at night when Ramirez would enter the house to commit these heinous crimes.
At least 4 victims survived these horrific attacks. Hear the compelling stories and experience the fear they felt.
After a surviving victim identified Ramirez's car speeding away from her home, his picture was shown on local television. The following day, while attempting to steal a car, a mob recognized Ramirez, beat him and detained him until the police arrived.
Menendez Brothers
It was a hot Sunday evening, August 20, 1989. Jose and Kitty Menendez were at their home when two men broke into their $4.0 million mansion in Beverly Hills. Walking through the study into the family room, they encountered both Kitty and Jose. One of the men pointed a shotgun at Jose and pulled the trigger, striking him in the elbow. His accomplice placed the shotgun against Jose's head and pulled the trigger.
Kitty was shot in the leg and in her right arm. Desperately trying to escape, her killers fired numerous shots at her, striking her four times in the head, shattering her skull.
Brothers Lyle and Eric Menendez were subsequently convicted of this terrible crime committed against their parents. What was their motivation? Was it just the money? How did the "perfect" crime unravel?
Hillside Strangler
Over a period of several months during the fall of 1977, females ranging in age from 12 years to their late 20s, were found dumped on hillsides in the Los Angeles area. All of the victims were strangled, sexually assaulted and had five point ligature marks on their arms, legs and neck.
Cousins Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono felt that women "disrespected" them. The two would cruise the streets of Los Angeles hunting for victims. Often times impersonating police officers, they found no shortage of victims. Two of the victims, 12 and 14 years old were taken on their way home from a shopping mall.
We will drive the streets, seeing what Bianchi and Buono saw. We will visti the exact location where a victim was abducted. This case will also be examined from a forensic viewpoint, as evidence left at the crime scene is what led to the eventual capture and conviction of these murderous cousins.
