View Full Version : I just got contact lenses yesterday!!! happycat 10-12-2013, 09:27 AM No more glasses! :) Though, I still have to wake up to a blurry world. :( Penny Lane 10-12-2013, 01:07 PM I got my contacts years ago and I love them! I hate wearing glasses! Enjoy! HuntingtonM15 10-12-2013, 02:38 PM That's cool! I first got contacts in 7th grade and wore them throughout high school. When I started college I got lazy about it and pretty much wore glasses the entire time. But once I started working, I went back to contacts again. happycat 08-09-2014, 10:08 AM No more glasses! :) Though, I still have to wake up to a blurry world. :( Kinda strange how things work out. As thrilled as I was to get contacts, I find myself wearing glasses most of time now. Glasses just seem to suit me. On a side note, my little sister (age 7) got her first pair of glasses yesterday, she is ready for 2nd grade with first glasses and improved vision. She is thrilled with her "new look"! :) Penny Lane 08-09-2014, 12:35 PM I love my contacts! But when I reached my 40's I needed bifocals. What I do is wear just cheap "Dollar Store" reading glasses with my contacts. I have to wear these when I read or am on the computer. I have pairs of them in every room of my house. I even keep a pair in my purse and the glove compartment of my car. I can't read anything without them! It can be a pain sometimes but I still will not give up my contacts. With my contacts I can wear sunglasses. Family Ties Forever! 08-09-2014, 09:26 PM Congrats on getting contacts. I'm sure your little sister will enjoy her glasses and 2nd grade. I was reading your post and laughing, because it is like I could have written that post! :D Same thing, 40 something I had trouble reading or being on the computer with my contacts in , and started buying the cheap reader glasses too! Between my husband and I (he doesn't wear contacts or regular glasses, just with age needs glasses to read) so between the two of us we have many pairs of readers around the house! :D I can't give up my contacts! I've worn them for years, and I hate to wear glasses! They just aren't me!!! Penny Lane 09-07-2014, 02:47 PM Me too!! Exactly!! Have you heard anymore about them? Penny Lane 09-08-2014, 03:49 PM Hi Penny! I remember seeing commercials on TV for bifocal contact lenses some years back, before I needed the readers . Have you heard anymore about them? I asked my Optometrist once about bifocal contacts. He said that they weren't any good. That's all I know. Maybe they have improved them? I certainly would be interested!:) Bonniegirl 09-09-2014, 12:26 AM I asked my Optometrist once about bifocal contacts. He said that they weren't any good. That's all I know. Maybe they have improved them? I certainly would be interested!:) Yeah , I don't know anyone that wears them. I would like to try them if they were good! OH Nuts! 09-09-2014, 07:57 AM Congrats on getting contacts hsppycat. The first two days I them but then I started to need a lot of drops and they made my eyes really tired. With so many great frames out there, I decided to go with frames. I just find eyeglasses are much easier on my eyes. And when you pick the RIGHT frame style, you can look better in glasses than with contacts. At least with me. But anyways, enjoy the contacts; I know a lot of people love them. Furienna 09-13-2014, 09:32 PM I have just bought my first pair of glasses in twenty years, as I have become near-sighted. But I would never use contact lenses. I'm too afraid that my eyes would get hurt. Bonniegirl 09-14-2014, 12:19 AM I have just bought my first pair of glasses in twenty years, as I have become near-sighted. But I would never use contact lenses. I'm too afraid that my eyes would get hurt. Oh no!! They are very advanced these days. You don't even feel them when they are in! And most contacts are disposable, you get a prescription (several pairs at a time, and wear them for a couple of weeks, and throw them out, and put a new pair in.) That way they stay fresh and clean. Plus you use special contact eye drops. Because allergies and dry weather can dry your eyes out and make the contacts uncomfortable. But with proper wear and keeping them moist, believe me you really can't feel them in your eyes! ;) The trouble in the old days was the contacts were hard and really uncomfortable to start, and than even the soft contacts, people didn't clean them right or had them too long and they just got to worn out and dirty! :( But as I said, the new disposable ones are awesome. I can't say enough about them! ;) And they are affordable, not really that expensive! ;) Furienna 09-14-2014, 08:24 PM That sounds great, but I'm still sticking to my new glasses. It's not like I have to wear them all the time. AB 09-15-2014, 05:24 PM I love my contacts! But when I reached my 40's I needed bifocals. I have to have them to read small print or to see the tiny numbers on the tv & cable controls & the cell-phone. At least there's always a pair close by. I tried years ago, but I have what's called dry eyes, so they didn't work out. I guess 10% of people have dry eyes, and lucky me, I'm one of them. Best of luck with them. |
