Yes, I know it was a different era. But when I just saw Beaver dressed up in a suit (Ward too), to go to the baseball game, I thought geez, that's too much.
I was too young in the 50's to remember if that's the way it really was. Mother dressed us up smartly but there was no money to get me a suit every other year.
I like it when Wally and the guys dress up for a party though, and all the girls in dresses.
Those days are long gone.

If you watch footage from Major League Baseball circa late 1950s and early 1960s, I think you will find primarily well-dressed men & women in the stands, with a lot of men still wearing dressy hats in that era.
It wouldn't be unusual as well to see one of the old-school baseball managers wearing a suit in the dugout as well.
Generally, when people were out in public they were dressing up -- with some exceptions, like when they themselves were participating in something strenuous.

During the Leave It To Beaver Era, people dressed up more. Today people are more casual.

In fact I think some people have taken it too far and dress too casually in public.

Amen to that! If it's considered "casual" to have your pants drooping down past your butt crack, than yes, I suppose it is casual. However, I feel it's downright nasty!

People dressed up for outings back then, be it going to baseball games, or to the movies.
