by NELLIE ANDREEVA
Tuesday October 8, 2013

On the heels of its strong debut, the Dick Wolf-produced TNT unscripted series "Cold Justice" has been renewed for a second season to air in early 2014.

It is the second TNT reality series to earn a sophomore-season renewal after "Boston’s Finest".

The procedural, from Wolf Films and Magical Elves, pulled in 2.9 million viewers total with 942,000 among adults 25-54 in its September premiere, by far the biggest opening for a TNT reality series, with the No.2, "Boston’s Finest", at 1.3 million total viewers.

The series, which wraps its first season on Oct. 22, has averaged 2.5 million viewers season to date (most current ratings) to rank as one of basic cable’s Top 5 new unscripted series of Q3 2013.

"Cold Justice" follows female investigators Kelly Siegler, a Texas prosecutor for 21 years who has successfully tried 68 murder cases, and Yolanda McClary, a crime scene investigator, as they dig into cold murder cases.

Wolf, Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz and Tom Thayer executive produce.

I'm not complaining at all, but I"ve noticed the focus has been exclusively on southern states thus far.

p.s. The second season debuts in just a few days on Jan 17th!

I have yet to see this, but have most of the eps recorded. I"ve got a huge backlog of stuff, and this will probably what I'll start watching after I wrap up City Confidential.

Watching season 2 now. Tracey Lynn Allen such a sad case. I'm glad finally got her murderer and abuser to confess where he buried her so her mother can have some peace. Her children are scarred forever by the father brainwashing them into believing she just left them.

This is one of my favorite shows! :D Here's some information on the two latest episodes from the Cold Justice Wiki. The next episode airs on July 11.

"Stranded"
June 20, 2014
Alma Henderson, 41, was a single mother of five children in Bay City, Texas. On April 7, 1988, she went out with friends to a club. She never came home. After she did not report to work the next morning, her daughter Kasy filed a missing persons report. A couple days later, police found Alma's car in a motel parking lot. She was in the backseat, dead from a single gunshot wound to the back of her head. Conflicting accounts arose about with whom she was last seen. Now, 26 years after her murder, the list of suspects narrows to a man who had sexually assaulted another woman earlier that night as well as Alma.

"Death by Design"
June 27, 2014
In Waller County, Texas, in 1986, Diann Hoelscher, a fashion designer, goes missing. She was last seen on February 4, when, according to her husband, she left her San Antonio home to travel to Houston to sell some high-end fabrics. She never returned. Her remains were found 11 years later but could not be identified until 2014. The investigators uncover her husband's plan of taking out a life insurance policy, and her disappearance coincides with the two-year window in which it can be collected. His ex-girlfriend also relates the night she woke up to him choking her.
