Between two popular sitcoms where animals and humans contact with each other like Mr ED its a good show for its time but my only problem with the show is the guy that is doing the horses voice does not matches the horses voice of the horse sometimes you can hear the voice before the horse opens his mouth, now The Muppet Show was entertaining i have no problems with the show to my theory we get to see celebrities,singers,movie stars,TV stars, a couple of the people from the star wars movie guest starred on the show, which sitcom would you say you like the best Mr Ed or The Muppet Show ???

I'll take Mister Ed.Just a fun show and so well made.

The Muppets weren't animals, they were puppets. They only vaguley represented animals with characters like Fozzie, Kermit and Piggy. Most of the Muppets were either abstract people (bunsen honeydew) or monsters and weirdos (the great gonzo.)

I loved The Muppet Show when I was a kid, but I'd pick Mister Ed now.

I LOVE The Muppet Show! (And The Muppets, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, most all of Jim Henson's work, etc. in general.) And I've only seen some of Mr. Ed here and there- it's a great, classic sitcom of course- but I don't really see the comparison.
They are both fun shows. Perhaps a closer comparison though might be Mr. Ed and My Mother, The Car (or Knight Rider, for that matter). (I know- this is comparing a talking horse with talking cars, but it seems more in a similar vein.) Or of course- wait, better still- there's also Disney's current show Dog With A Blog. And I think I'd probably take Mr. Ed over that one- the Dog With A Blog show is cute enough, but not one of my Disney favorites...

Both are great shows in their own way, but I have to go with The Muppets on this one.

The Muppets were all so strange looking nobody could tell who were suppose to be people or animals lol

There are some Muppets clearly based on animals and thus named as such- i.e. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Sam the Eagle, etc. Camilla is obviously a chicken. Gonzo is a whatever, as he has said many times before. Animal is.... Animal. Other characters like Dr. Teeth, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, Pops, Statler and Waldorf, etc. all seem to be human beings, more or less. (Though of course, we don't have any green-skinned or blue-skinned human beings out there that I know of.)
Another thing to keep in mind though is that on "The Muppet Show", the actual human being guest stars interact with the Muppets as part of their world- and since the entire thing is set at the Muppet Theater (usually) we generally take it for granted that these characters exist and can speak and interact with humans (as we've seen in the movies where they do this a lot, like "The Muppet Movie", "The Great Muppet Caper", "The Muppets Take Manhattan", "The Muppet Christmas Carol", "Muppet Treasure Island", "Muppets From Space" and "The Muppets"- and next year's "Muppets: Most Wanted" that I can't wait to see!:) )
With "Mr. Ed"- it's a bit different because the whole gimmick with that show is that Wilbur and his family are clearly set in the real world and then Wilbur discovers he has a talking horse, which obviously does not happen in the real world (outside of God's miraculous intervention, of course- see Numbers 22.:) :cool: )
That's kinda why I was saying I don't think "Mr. Ed" and "The Muppet Show" are really good comparisons. I think it would be better to match up "Mr. Ed" with another show where an unexpected animal, plant or object talks- for instance, "Dog with a Blog", "My Mother, The Car", "Knight Rider" (though that one is more of a science fiction show where we suspend disbelief and take it for granted that a computer voice can be built into a car like that- and with today's technology that's honestly true that it could be done.) The "Look Who's Talking" movies used a variation of this concept with babies talking (at a way too early stage of course and on an adult intelligence level)- and so does the "Marvin" comic strip- on TV shows, this has been done with "Baby Talk". (One of the "Look Who's Talking" movies also involved having the pets talk I do believe.) Of course, I don't believe anyone but the viewer could hear these characters talking on the "Look Who's Talking" movies, and I know that's true in the "Marvin" comic strip and "Baby Talk" series [largely inspired by the "Look Who's Talking" movies], so I don't know if they would really count.
However, in the early 2000s, a TV show called "Baby Bob" featured a baby talking on an adult level and his mother and father were able to hear and understand him. (i.e. this wasn't the baby just talking to the audience.) So that show used this concept too.

The Muppet Movie is by far the best musical i have ever heard, i have seen the movie more then the TV show itself.

And I've certainly seen "The Muppet Show" a number of times too- I still want to see Seasons 4 and 5 released to DVD soon! Maybe they will be when the new movie releases next year!:) :cool:
