Damon Lindelof on the "Lost" Finale: "I Did It for Me"

Didn't love the "Lost" finale? You're not alone, but showrunner Damon Lindelof is done apologizing. In a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, Lindelof said that he's simply going to stop talking about the show's controversial finale.

"I'm not doing this because I feel entitled or above it," he wrote in a piece that was initially supposed to be about the "Breaking Bad" finale.

"I'm doing it because I accept that I will not change hearts nor minds. I will not convince you they weren't dead the whole time, nor resent you for believing they were despite my infinite declarations otherwise. While I'll always care what you think, I can't be a slave to it anymore...

Here's why: I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And I was really … I was alive."

he can say whatever he wants now, but the show just did not live up to the expectations set in the first 2 seasons.

the entire final season just seemed like a complete cop-out - it was poorly written and plotted; and even if you were to accept the lame premise that they had all been dead the entire time, it still doesn't make any sense. We are somehow supposed to accept that all of these people that had basically never met before the initial flight somehow had a collective dream in the afterlife about a time traveling island, with an evil corporation, pirates, smoke dragons and polar bears among other nonsense - all for absolutely NO REASON AT ALL, other than they just got on the wrong plane.

With an intense fanbase of "Lost" fans, it was hard for somebody like Lindelof to move on on a medium like Twitter.
