"Big Bang Theory" Books Bob Newhart's Return, Adds Bill Nye

CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" is welcoming back Emmy winner Bob Newhart for a November episode that will also feature Bill Nye.
Newhart will reprise his role in the Nov. 7 episode when his Professor Proton contacts Leonard (Johnny Galecki) to ask for help with an experiment and a scorned Sheldon seeks revenge by befriending a rival science TV host in Nye -- aka "The Science Guy."
Nye just had a short stint on "Dancing with the Stars".

(Of course, while I'm glad to see Bob Newhart on the show, if they wanted a rival scientist host for Bill Nye, the Science Guy- they could have hired Paul Zaloom from Beakman's World.:) :cool:)
Unfortunately, the original- or at least one of the earliest- kids science show hosts, Don Herbert (aka Mr. Wizard, from "Mr. Wizard's World") died in 2007.

I love Bill Nye, so this is great news! He's awesome! And he's from Seattle! How cool is that? I used to love Bill Nye the Science Guy back when it was on. I miss that show so much!

The stares exchanged between Bob Newhart and Bill Nye the Science Guy in the exclusive photo above from the upcoming Nov. 7 episode of "The Big Bang Theory" are powerful enough to set off some sort of chemical reaction, which makes us even more excited for this clash of the science titans.
Per the episode description, Professor Proton (Newhart) reaches out to Leonard (Johnny Galecki) seeking help for an experiment. When Sheldon (Jim Parsons), a fan of Proton’s, finds out, he retaliates by befriending Proton’s TV host rival, Nye.
