Dana Delany: "ABC Will Probably Regret Canceling 'Body Of Proof'"
10/2/2013

Dana Delany's "Body of Proof" was canceled after three seasons, even though the show about a Philadelphia medical examiner wasn't doing badly in the ratings.

"I feel like we had three strong seasons," Delany said during a recent visit to HuffPost Live. "I would just like to mention that the show that replaced us got half the amount of viewers that we did."

The show in question is "Lucky 7", a new drama about gas station workers who win the lottery. It premiered to 4.6 million viewers with a 1.3 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. The "Body of Proof" series finale had 7.6 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in May 2013.

"I think we did OK. I think they could've kept us a little bit longer and I think they're going to probably regret it," she said.

After ABC canceled "Body of Proof", there was talk of it finding another network home. However, deals never materialized.

"You know what? I'm happy to be on vacation," she said. "I really am."

That's the same Dana Delany who starred in the abc Drama China Beach which Featured Michael Boatman of Spin City Fame, Concetta Tomei of Providence Fame, Veteran Actress Megan Gallagher and Marg Helgenburger of Ryan's Hope and CSI Fame

I think that Dana Delany is not getting the credit that she deserves and that's a shame

I feel like each year it becomes more evident that "Body of Proof’s" time of death was prematurely declared. Did you feel that show had another year or two in it?

I think it could have kept going. I’m always fine to move on, it’s just my nature, but I think ABC has been very nice about that.

I was going to say, this is the first time I’ve spoken to you since [ABC president] Channing Dungey said that they lamented that decision — and back in October 2013, I believe, you predicted that ABC would regret it.

It was just pure business. It wasn’t anything personal. I saw the numbers, but I thought that was very big of her to say that. She didn’t need to.
