hard to get along with on the set. The actors say they use to just stay out of his way to afffoid any trouble. The lady that played Aunt Bea said when the show was over he never contated her. And he was also distant and cold with his on.

I also saw an interview on the internet where Andy had said the whole cast was really close with each other, so I don't know.

I have read from many sources that Frances Bouvier who played Aunt Bee was the difficult person, who was easy to annoy or anger. The guy who played Emmett the TV guy said that she was very sensitive, and by and large not a nice lady. I think the rest of the cast got along fine and worked well as a unit.

For some reason, even though she was not from the area, she bought a home in North Carolina and was a recluse and a "cat lady" of sorts. Andy and Rov Howard tried to see her in the 1970's, and she refused them both.

Andy himself? I think that for whatever reason he was not happy during the color seasons of TAGS and it showed. He was going through a divorce at the time and his best friend Don Knotts left to do films and Andy himself wanted to do other things.

There are movies and shows where Andy plays a villian, and Andy was really good at playing those parts. The guy was scary.

I heard that he was more difficult on Matlock. Everyone seemed to get along on TAGS.

Here's a snipet from an obituary for Frances Bavier.

Andy Griffith once did an interview with Ralph Emery, and the subject of Frances came up. He said that both he and Ron Howard tried visiting her in Siler City. Unannounced. She flipped. Later, a mutual friend of theirs called Andy, and said that Frances wanted to talk to him. Andy called her, and she told him that she was sorry they never got along better. She told him that she had suffered two heart attacks and cancer. Andy said in the interview that it wasn’t that they didn’t get along, it was just that she didn’t always feel up to playing the role.

I also heard that Frances was the difficult one and not Andy. But she was talking to him on the phone once before she died and she said "I'm sorry if I ever said or did anything to make you mad at me."

I liked him in the TV movie MURDER IN COWATTA COUNTY where he played a J.R. Ewing-type.

Athough I have heard that FB (Aunt Bea) was the more difficult cast member, whenever I see Dinner at Eight, I always think that AG wanted to slug Goober. I think AG is such a good actor, that you actually believe he is that angry. He told Goober he was going to kill him and I believed it!
