Hey guys,

30 years ago this week, Welsh Singer/Songwriter Gaynor Hopkins better known as Bonnie Tyler Hit #1 on the Pop Chart with a song that would become one of the most beloved ballads of the 80's

The song was called "Total Eclipse of the Heart"

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" was written and produced by Jim Steinman and it became Bonnie's Biggest Hit on the Pop Chart since "It's a Heartache"

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" became a #1 Hit in France, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and it became her only #1 Pop Hit in the UK and here in America

The song also became a Top 10 Hit on the Adult Contemporary Chart when the song peaked @ #7

The song lasted #1 on the American Pop Chart for 4 consecutive weeks and it Hit Platinum in France, Canada and America and it also Hit Gold in the UK and Italy

The song was also featured on her Platinum Album entitled Faster Than the Speed of Night which became her only #1 Pop Album in the UK and Norway and her only Top 10 Pop Album here in America

12 years later in 1995, British Dance Singer Nicki French released a Dance Remake of her own version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and her version became a #2 Hit on the American Pop Chart, Hit #1 on the Dance Chart in Canada, and was a Top 5 Hit on the UK

The Song also became a #1 Hit on Top 40 Mainstream Radio and was a Top 20 Hit on the Adult Contemporary Chart, plus it became a Top 40 Hit on the American Dance Chart and it also garnered frequent airplay on CHR and AC radio and it became a Top 5 Hit on Casey's Top 40/Radio & Records

Very Funny, but that was an awesome song and I remember watching Bonnie's Video on America's Top 10 w/Casey Kasem and Nicki's Video on VH1 and I even heard it on Radio on KBIU 103.7 FM Lake Charles, LA and on Casey's Top 40 when I was in Jr. High

I was referring to the Nicki French version, there was really no need for it. I would also appreciate it if you would include some links to your information. I believe I've asked you to do this more than once.

Hey, I like 90's Music

Just curious, do you have anything against 90's music?

also, if you don't want me to post in the music section, then that's fine with me

No offense though

I like some 90's music but I'll admit that it took a while.

You can post here all you want, I personally think that some of these threads should have links to verify the info you provide. Even a Wikipedia link would be great or chart info from Billboard or any other reliable source.

No offense taken

I could not understand how she reacts when her voice sounds extremely violent during her singing.

The Glee version is way better than the Bonnie Tyler version, IMO.

Great song from a great singer. Nothing can top Bonnie Tyler's original performance of the classic '80s song, "Total Eclipse of the Heart", in my opinion.:)

I really like this song. Nicki French's version wasn't that bad but it doesn't make a good upbeat dance song. It's meant to be an over-the-top ballad. I also like Bonnie's other 80's hit "I Need a Hero" and her version of Air Supply's "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" is also good.

They made that video too over-horrific and violent, IMO!

I agree with both of you and I remember Nicki's version when I was still in Middle School and I do remember "I Need a Hero"

another AWESOME Classic

Great song, I like it better than "Total Eclipse of the Heart" but the actual title is "Holding Out for a Hero."

Did anybody tried listening to the Glee version on "total eclipse of the heart" at all?

I know it is not as great as Bonnie Tyler's version, but it is not that violent at all.
