She's the Sheriff is American sitcom that aired in syndication from 1987 to 1989. Produced by Lorimar Television, the series marked the return of Suzanne Somers to television for the first time since she walked out on her famous role as Chrissy Snow on ABC's Three's Company. Somers stars as Hildy Granger, a young wife suddenly widowed with two children to support. Her employment worries end when the Commissioner of Lakes County, Nevada (near Lake Tahoe), offers to appoint her sheriff, the job held by her husband until his untimely death. Hildy accepts the position and is immediately forced to handle the daily problems of both locals and tourists, with extra trouble created by the four deputies on her staff. In addition, Hildy has regular battles with work colleague Max Rubin, who doesn't feel Hildy should be in the job.

Other Thoughts:

This was to be Suzanne Somers' "comeback" show, but its suckiness prevented it from doing so, even though, in all honesty, it was better than Step by Step.
" Better than 'Step by Step", the last poster said? Even a TV that can pick up nothing but 'SNOW' is *better* than 'Step by Step'! Suzanne Somers is funnier in her Thigh-Masters ads than she was in YEARS of ANY of those shows she did!
I never even heard of this show and I can tell it totally sucked!
Here's a concept. Let's take the dumb blonde who was a set nightmare on Three's Company, give her a kid, and make her the sheriff of a small town on the border of California and Nevada. Then, let's give her a deputy who hates her. Hilarity must ensue, right?
Show slogan says it all, "She's the Sheriff, and she's got the laughs...locked up"!
The only funny thing about this show? Looking at Suzanne Sommers wearing that very-tailored sheriff's outfit. Couldn't you imagine her in a sting operation? She would tell the crook "This is a bust!" and he would probably say "And what a lovely bust it is!"
This show jumped when some idiot decided to put in on the air. Everything about it is horrible and it's on my list of worst shows ever. I recently caught about ten minutes of it on TV Land and I sat there in awe watching the train wreck. The acting, production values and writing are all bad. And the premise is absurd. Whoever thought Suzanne Somers could carry a show is crazy. At least on Three's Company she was part of an ensemble. Not on her own...geez...and not convincing as a sheriff. Yuck!
This show is famous for one reason. Pricilla Barnes (the actress who played Terri on Three's Company - who replaced Suzanne Sommers) was cast as the lead and dropped out. So Suzanne replaced Pricilla. Turnabout IS fair play. The only episode worth watching is the one where Don Knotts plays a cop that locks them up.
I remember watching this on Saturday afternoons (the "throwaway time") on a locally run channel. For some reason, the show popped into my head this morning, as I remember the sickingly cheesy theme song, and the image of Suzanne Somers in her super-tight sheriff shirt bouncing around a low-budget set. Even when I was eight, I didn't think this show was funny or entertaining. Yeeeesh!

Show was bad from Day 1. And whoever said it was "better than Step By Step" should be shot!
