Dennis the Menace is a television series based on the popular Hank Ketcham comic strip of the same name. The show aired from 1959 to 1963 on CBS and stars Jay North as Dennis Mitchell; Herbert Anderson as his father, Henry; Gloria Henry as his mother, Alice; Joseph Kearns as George Wilson and Sylvia Field as Martha Wilson. It was produced by Darriel Productions and Screen Gems.

"Bone the fish" is definitely a new saying for me. :)
Some interesting responses, but I think the person who mentioned Miss Cathcart meant Mrs. Elkins. Had to. Miss Cathcart was no one's nemesis, except possibly Mr. Dorfman! Mrs. Elkins really was unpleasant to both Mr. Wilsons and instigated the problems between them.
Again though, I never thought Gale Gordon and Sara Seegar acted as if they'd always been the sole Wilsons. Were the writers supposed to sprinkle in references to George and Martha throughout the fourth season? A few more might have been nice, but they did make sure to reference George in almost every Season 3 episode after he died (and while Martha was still around).
The show wasn't was it had been by Season 4 anyway, and I'm not sure Joseph Kearns and Sylvia Field still being around could have saved it.

When Margaret was still pushing around a doll buggy when she was 12 years old!

When Joseph Kearns died. I loved Gale Gordon on Lucille Ball's shows but there was only one Mr. Wilson on DTM.
OH Nuts!

My sentiments exactly. Gale was great as a curmudgeonly boss but NO ONE can hold a candle to Joseph Kearn's Mr. Wilson.
