I'm just wondering if anyone spotted this, and if anyone could try contacting this person for more information. They left an email address. I have no idea if this person is being truthful or not, but considering how little info is out there you never know. The post was dated September 2011.

http://somethingslurking-hook.blogspot.com/2010/05/mysterious-disappearence-of-keith.html

I was in Jamaica in Aug/Sep 1988. I was eating dinner at our resort, heard a scream, saw a table of 4 (2 men, 2 women), one of the men had stood up and was punching the other man in the side of the head. The man getting punched was clearly stronger/more muscular, he blocked a couple of punches then then one doing the punching and his female companion left. Strange occurrence as you can imagine, watched it all unfold at the table right near me. Got back to town (Denver), in Westword was reading article about Keith, it had his picture and that of his high school friend Ted Parker. Instantly recognized Reinhard as the one punching, Parker as the muscular man sitting and taking the punches. Showed the article that night to one of the people on the trip with me. Only showed them the pictures, not in context with the article. I said 'recognize these people?' They immediately said they were the ones fighting in the restaurant in Jamaica (at Sans Souci resort in Ocho Rios). Called the Denver FBI office, they said they were not investigating it, so wanted me to call the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Department, which I did (can't find the name of the guy I talked to, but if you told me his name I would be able to say yes or no - wife was going through cancer treatments at the time). He was not surprised and had heard of other rumors similar to mine. There was never any follow-up after that - took down my info on where/when I saw him, etc., but got the feeling I was not the only one who had given him that info. So take it for what it is worth, but two of us saw this fight happen, then saw pictures in Westword they were the two men fighting, no question.

That's been posted on the forum before, FYI

Never seen that before and I decided to watch the Reinhard segment again before responding to this.

I think it's possible that person did see Reinhard, but I have my doubts too, for one big reason. They mention having also seen Ted Parker, but Parker himself was interviewed for the segment and seemed as bewildered by Reinhard's disappearance as everyone else. If Parker went to Jamaica around the time Reinhard disappeared, you'd think that would raise some red flags, especially in a small town like Silver Plume.

I'm never really sure what to make of Reinhard's actual disappearance though. They said that before he went on his supposed hike, he told everyone in town that he planned to do so, and they also found that the last thing he wrote of his novel was his character going on a hike.

I wonder if him announcing his hike like that was to get into character or was it code for something else, especially after his 'send in a rescue team' comment to Parker? Was he maybe meeting someone there that he wasn't sure of and he wanted people to know where he was if he didn't return? They wondered if Tom Young was actually murdered and if he and Reinhard perhaps found out something related to the building they both rented that they weren't supposed to know. So if he was meeting someone, maybe it was the same person, but instead of leaving his body since they eventually found Young's body, maybe they took Reinhard's away?

If Reinhard did disappear on his own, it's hard to imagine why he would have. It's not like a case where someone commits a crime and then disappears (as far as we know). He had two kids and it was implied that they were still in contact with him before his disappeared. If he wanted to just run away for a while for the sake of disappearing, why never contact his kids?

I guess that in the end, I lean more towards him being dead, either due to his own actions or someone else's.

I doubt Ted Parker would go on UM knowing that his friend was alive and well and lie on nationally TV. They had known each other since they were kids, IIRC, so Parker would obviously have been acquainted/friends with Keith's wife and kids. I think it's a bogus story.

I agree. The moment I saw it on another thread a while back I thought it was bunk. Ted Parker was Keith Reinhard's best friend since childhood. I don't see someone like that putting Reinhard's children through the pain of losing their father just so he could disappear. I realize that's sheer feeling, but I really just have a hard time seeing it.

Also, considering that Ted Parker's cafe isn't open year-round (and probably wasn't in 1988, considering the harsh winters in which the only people in Silver Plume are its handful of permanent residents), wouldn't he be wanting to take advantage of the summer tourist season instead of spending money and time to apparently help hide his friend in another country?

Never saw that before. All I can say is: huh.

Seems unlikely, but why would someone make up a story about a guy who disappeared 23 years ago and post it on the internet? I mean, people do stranger things, but an anonymous internet posting hardly seems worth the effort... how many people are even out there looking to fool?
