Unsolved Mysteries is an American television program, hosted by Robert Stack, from 1987 until his death in 2003. Unsolved Mysteries uses a documentary format profiling real-life mysteries and features reenactments of unsolved crimes, missing persons, conspiracy theories and unexplained paranormal phenomena.

Definitely when Spike TV took over. Dennis Farina was no Stack, but I could have tolerated him as the host if they'd just left the rest of the show alone and I don't blame him at all for the way the newer version turned out. Sadly just another case of a show's producers seemingly having no freaking clue why exactly their show is popular.

I second this, entirely. I'd always liked Farina, and had high hopes for him in this. But upon seeing the "revamped" and "cool" new UM, I was seriously let down. But none of it had to do with Farina. It was the updated "metal" music, the drastically edited segments (because we apparently can't watch an hour long show, anymore, and have no attention span), the fact they added no new segments, etc. I mean, they had the ability to bring back a great show with a good host, but they fumbled the ball terribly. :(
