September 19, 1989 at 8 P.M. ET/PT: Steven Bochco Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television premieres a new Hospital Drama called Doogie Howser, M.D., premiering on the ABC Television Network.

Created by Steven Bochco, Doogie Howser is unique as a Hospital Drama in the sense that its focus is that of a teenage doctor, Douglas Howser (Neil Patrick Harris). A TEENAGE DOCTOR?! Thats what everyone thought, but its true; like most boys his age, however, Douglas still lives with his parents: dad David (James B. Sikking), also a doctor, and mom Katherine (Belinda Montgomery), a typical 1980s housewife, both of whom keep Douglas in check regularly, along with aspiring filmmaker Vincent Delpino (Max Casella), his best friend since childhood who helps him keep up with the teen world.

Premiering after Whos the Boss?, Doogie Howser, M.D. aired Wednesday nights at 9 P.M. ET/PT after The Wonder Years on ABC, a time slot it would hold until moving to 8 P.M. ET/PT in September 1992, also after Wonder.

In the series finale telecast on March 24, 1993 at 8 P.M. ET/PT (after The Wonder Years), Douglas Howser, at the ripe old age of 19, decides to resign from Medicine & start a 2nd career as a Writer at an age where MOST 19-year-olds are THINKING of starting their FIRST careers while in college.

Reruns would air on Nickelodeon (Australia only) from 1995-2000, on the Odyssey Channel from 1999-2001, and as of 2010 are airing on The Hub.
