Do any of you guys bowl? If so, how often, and how good are you? I'm not a very good bowler. I've probably gone about 20 times in my life, and my highest score ever was 155.

Like you I have gone bowling once in awhile and my best was 155 too. It's fun but I don't think I would like to be on a league and bowl every week,

I only bowled once or twice before I had to have back surgery I have two metal rods in my back I can't pick up any thing over 10 pounds so I can't blow my brother been bowling couple times I also can't skate in skate in skating rings I never was good skater any ways I don't know how to skate any way plus if I feel on my back It could hurt my back really bad

Real bowling, used to go all the time in my late teens through early 20's. Last time I went bowling was for one of my nephew's birthday parties a few years back.

In the mid 90's I bowled all the time it was soo much fun my friend and I hit every bowling alley around the the city. I have my own gear. I haven't been bowling in 3 or 4 years now.

I bowl Candlepins, the version popular in New England and Northeast Canada. The balls are the size of cantaloupes. Best I have done is 114. I enjoy it a lot. Out here its about $4.75 a string. Some nights it can be $12.oo for 3 hours.

Yes, I like bowling. If I owned a mansion, it would have an indoor bowling alley. :D

Bowling is a lot of fun, it's a good family-friendly activity. A family or group of people can have a lot of fun at a reasonable price.

As a kid (maybe 11 or 12) I'd go every now and then with different friends... one of our moms would load everyone into the car and we'd go to the local alley. I'd get into the low 100s most times but had one fluke game of 144.

As an adult, I was usually high 190s or low 200s, but I had another fluke game of 244. It's probably been 3-4 years since I've bowled. I've always enjoyed it but never really did it regularly. And I've never wanted to play in a league. It's one of those things that's fun when you want to go do it, but I never wanted to have to commit to being there every week or whatever. We'd just go when we wanted to.

I used to work in a bowling alley back in the 70s,bowled every day and was on a couple of leagues. I hit 230s-240s a few times but I was never consistent. I would always blame the ball or the shoes but most of the time it would be the lane's fault,I hated a freshly waxed lane,it messed up my curve. Bowling a game back then cost .75 and renting shoes was .30 cents.

I love to bowl, especially cosmic bowling.

I like to have disco music play throughout the cosmic bowling game, I think it would be like this....

The thing about bowling that always amazed me was how sore I would be afterwards. Bowling really works the muscles. And since we'd play no less then 7 frames, ( I think that's what they call it) I would be totally exhausted at the end. I honestly don't think this 32 year old body would even be able to handle it weekly from a physical standpoint. I may be relatively young, but when I bowl I sure don't feel young. I Would definitely have to cut the frames in half at least, as it usually takes my body a week to recover. I too think it's one of the best family events along with miniature golf. Hopefully I'll be better off financially soon and can go again. I can use some fun in my life right now.

My mom & I used to bowl a lot when I was younger. We even have our own balls and shoes. But we haven't been in a while. I think I'd like to try it again sometime. :)

I enjoy bowling,even though I probably bowl only once a year. I'm not a good bowler though, rarely breaking a 100. I think my best game was in the 130's and that was A VERY rare event.

I bowled on child, teen and young adult leagues regularly growing up.

I was on my high school Varsity bowling team from Junior-Senior year. My highest score is 247.



Bowling seems to be dying around here. The bowling alley I practically grew up in closed after 50 years of business in May of this year.

Today you mostly find upper-scale bars w/ bowling alleys around NYC.

Bowling class in College. Didn't know that was a course you could take. I would have taken it. As for Turkeys and Chickens, I am sure you are right. I quickly wrote for I thought one said strikes. I didn't know spares were chickens. You learned something new everyday.

I don't think that there is a actually name for it. That's just what I decided to call it. I just figured that bad/mediocre bowlers should have a cute name for their accomplishments too. :)

I tried bowling a few times in the late 90's but after the ball went into the next lane three different times, I figured it wasn't for me. :lol:

I strained my elbow a few weeks ago and I do hope I can get back to bowling.

I used to LOVE to bowl, but haven't bowled in years!!!

How cool! I love pink. I bet that is pretty! :) I always rented shoes and used the balls there, I never bowled so much as to have my own. But if I did I'd pick pink or maybe turquoise (another fav. color of mine)!!! ;)

I candle pinned bowled just last week. Paid a $12.00 special and could bowl for 3 hours. I bowled 6 strings and the highest score was 110. I plan on going twice a month. Shoes were included too. My shoes I haven't worn enough, had them 10 years and they hurt my feet. Normally it is $.4.50 at string and $3.00 for shoes. Bowling in this area has gone down. There were 20 people in the 20 lane alleys. Even with the specials, no one is running through the doors. Back in the 1950's to 1970's the place would be packed with leagues, kids, teenagers, older folk. Not anymore.

Funny thing about Bowling. My sister used to babysit me when my mom worked. She was much older and would go bowling with her friends and take me with her. She did this for years as I was growing up. When I started hanging with my own friends in my teens, I went bowling a few times. It didn't appeal the me, the actual throwing the ball down the lane. But I found that listening to others bowl, was relaxing to me. I love the noise in the bowling alleys. Crazy thing, I know, but it is what it is. Anyone remember "Bowling for Dollars" With Chick Hearn?

I will agreed it can be a lot of fun. I do pictured it in the 1950-1970 time frame place to take a date. Cost wise around here $4.50 at string and $3.00 for shoes. So far $7.50 for one string. If you played 3 strings $13.50 + $3.00 for shoes ,one is paying $16.50. 2 people $33.00 dollars. If one is making a low wage, I wouldn't be able to pay too often. Fortunately the bowling alley I go to has specials but the place is still empty other than one league a night.

I had some fun yrs bowling both size pins, dad was a tournament ten pin bowler, mom was in a ladies' duck pin league thru her church. We all have some fun yrs at bowling.

Mom was a good sport, thru her church she bowled and played bingo, I sometimes went to play bingo with her.....lots of fun those good ole days.

I wonder if bowling is still going on out there.....

I'm still pretty good at Wii bowling.

But a lot has changed since 2013, we've gone bowling a lot, and still go when we get a chance. More birthdays have been celebrated at the bowling alley over the years, including my own a few years ago.

Not really. I haven’t bowled in many years. I remember the last time I bowled and basically my strategy is to get the lightest ball and more or less throw it at the pins. My friend laughed at this. So, no, bowling has never been a thing for me.

There was a bowling alley in my home city, and we would go there basically for the game room which had lots of pinball machines. I used to go to that bowling alley at least twice a month for about eight years, but I only remember bowling there once. Now the place (and it has been there since the 1950’s, has been torn down and replaced by a Planet Fitness!
