I bought season one this week. Amazon finally lowered the cost! I never understood why it was so high. I am enjoying it immensely, mainly because of Flo. I am all ready questioning if I will even bother with the seasons without her. I have no interest in the TAGS seasons sans Barney or the last two seasons of Sanford and Son.

I loved all the seasons of Alice except parts of the final season.

It got too outlandish for me. The robot waitress was a bit much.

I'm the type I HAVE to have the whole series even the ones that are a little inferior to the others.

I would be ticked off if they didn't at least offer the later seasons, lots of tvs shows to that like take the not-so good ones totally out of existence and I HATE that.

I'm lucky enough to have some season 11 Carol Burnett Show episodes, but try to find those nowdays, and all b/c Korman is not in them  I mean they should STILL be available.

But I think Alice goes down hill a little after Vera gets married, but I still want the whole series.

And I actuallyed liked Jolene! I remember though as a kid, when the Jolene episodes were on, I would long for the Flo episodes, and I want that feeling again lol

I stopped at season four with Sanford and Son. I change the channel when I see the later seasons on TV and I sure as heck know I won't take the time to watch them on DVD. However, with The Dukes of Hazzard, I find season five onward lacking but love the show and characters enough that I can still enjoy it. The same can not be said for Andy Griffith. Seasons one through five are the greatest. However, six through eight saw a change in Andy's personality along with the addition of less interesting characters. Therefore, those are not worth purchasing in my opinion. The same happened with Alice. Flo's replacements paled in comparison and Alice became less likeable. Mel and Tommy retained their charm, but the overall quality of the show declined. Talent shows, a robot waitress, Vera's marriage and too much of the telephone repair man are fine for a rerun on cable, but not something I would watch again and again on DVD.

When ALICE moved to Wednesdays at 9pm in the fall of 1982, it was a tough decision between it and THE FACTS OF LIFE, but ultimately, FACTS won out at our house.

Though ALICE returned to Sundays later in the season, I found myself only watching sporadically from then on, so when Seasons 7-9 do come out on DVD it will be like seeing new episodes of an old favorite.

When Designing Women came back in reruns minus Suzanne and Charlene, it was like a new show, but not a very enjoyable one.

I actually loved the last 2 seasons of DW. The writing in S7 was not the greatest and neither was Sheryl Lee Ralph, but otherwise loved Judith Ivey in it.
