Yes, it's an official CBS release exclusive to WalMart and Sam's Club

I stand corrected. It is indeed the official 4th season release solely for Wal-Mart sales. Nice....

I don't like the package art. Why isn't it uniform with seasons 2 & 3? TVSODVD claims they can't report on this, because its an exclusive Walmart item. They're the ones that usually research these things. I DID go to Walmart.com, and its says "The Official Fourth Season".

I don't understand why they're handling it this way. Petticoat Junction Season 3 is being released the same way.

Well, I guess I should be glad they're getting released!

I wondered the same thing, why TVSODVD did not report on it. I would think Wal-Mart would want to publicize this some way so people know to buy them so more seasons can be released. I just hope and pray they are decent quality.

Like you, I can't wait to see the color episodes. It's been FOREVER since I've seen any of them. I hope they're all uncut.

The funniest one I remember watching is something blowing up and Jed asking a question and she put her hand to her ear and says AAyy. I came unglued at her reaction.

Got it in the mail today! Can't wait to watch! I did check the first few episodes for runtime and here's the results:

Admiral Jed Clampett: 25:23
That Old Black Magic: 25:25
The Sheik: 25:23

So, it seems these are unedited and the picture quality is way better than I expected!

I got my copy today, too! I've watched the first two episodes and I am very happy with the quality. I always thought the syndication prints of the color episodes were not good, but on the DVDs, it is very crisp and clear video and audio.

Let's hope the remaining five seasons come soon! :)

Seems like we were all worried about this release. I don't suppose we'll get any more "extras" with TBH and PJ releases, since MPI and CBS" Seasons 2 and 3 put out a wealth of them.

Sure am glad it looks like the episodes are un-cut and the picture quality is good!:)

Sorry, Granny put her hand to her ear. It's been 30 years since I graduated from High School.

I did notice some editing in the episode "Hoedown a Go-Go". When Miss Jane and Jethro go to the Whiskey a Go-Go, as I recall, Miss Jane was dancing on the table to "Oh Pretty Woman". I saw the episode on TV a few months ago. It appears the song was edited out in this DVD release, likely because of copyright issues.

In that one, Granny wants a party-line telephone like she had back home years before. Of course, that contradicts early BH episodes in which phones are totally new to Granny & the Clampetts.

Anyway, Jethro installs a wall telephone in the kitchen (IIRC). When he wires it up, he gets it connected to some high-voltage lines or otherwise somehow turns it into a real danger. Granny is seated, trying to talk on it, and BOOM!

Does anyone know if there are any extras on this set?

There aren't, however the ending with Elly saying, "This has been a Filmways Presentation!" is intact. I don't think I've seen that in a while.

Better than nothing I suppose. I'll still pick it up.

At this point when it comes to extras on season sets, I really don't expect anything so when there is nothing I'm not disappointed. I'm just happy to finally get these episodes on DVD!

I was watching the last episode of Season 4 yesterday (Jethro Goes to College) and noticed there are some bizarre music cues used in this episode.

I didn’t have time to go back and rewatch the whole thing, but in the establishing location shots of Frisbee’s Business School (7:12 and 13:40) the music cue is an accordion riff that was more commonly used on Petticoat Junction.

When Granny hauls up a huge picnic basket (9:45) there is a modern-sounding bluesy twangy that ends with cymbals. This is repeated at 18:07 and 18:15 when a college scene ends and a mansion scene begins.

Does anyone know if it was replaced and if so, why?

I went on a bit of a shopping spree on Amazon and ordered seasons 1 to 4 DVD's of Beverly Hillbillies, also ordered seasons 1 to 3 DVD's of Petticoat Junction.

The seasons 1 to 3 DVD's of Beverly Hillbillies have sponsor openings and closings in the episodes, look forward to seeing these.

Oh, that sounds cool.
I've binge watched all three of the connected rural shows, Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, and Green Acres. I suppose if someone likes on of those shows, they're liable to like the others.

I received the DVD's I ordered, seasons 1-4 of Beverly Hillbillies and seasons 1-3 of Petticoat Junction. I'm enjoying these Beverly Hillbillies episodes with the sponsor openings and closings and the cast commercials, seasons 1-3 have the sponsor openings and closings but I believe season 4 doesn't have them. I haven't watched any Petticoat Junction episodes yet but plan to watch some soon.
