Noticed a number of episodes when he raised his arms in scenes he got major pit stains  biffbronson 09-10-2013, 06:38 AM This thread has my nomination under "most unusual..." There's been discussion lately on TV and elsewhere that some people simply perspire more than others, whether genetically predisposed or whatever. Anyway, the hot studio lights probably had a lot to do with it. But at least Dwayne didn't have the problem Lorne Greene and Pernell Roberts had on the Bonanza set (and later Dan Blocker as well): In every scene, they either wore their hat or their toupee! No head ventilation. Milton Berle used to advise male actors to wear undershirts. Marvo301 09-10-2013, 01:42 PM I understand that TV lights were even hotter back in the days of black and white TV. With advances in camera technology as well as improvements in the quality of film and videotape the lights no longer need to be as bright or as hot. So i'm sure perspiration was a big problem for many TV actors in the 50's and early 60's. ZeldaGilroy 09-13-2013, 08:20 PM I don't know why, but this whole thread makes me laugh. Plus, I will now be keeping an eye out for pit stains as I watch. OH Nuts! 09-14-2013, 12:24 PM Just started watching some eps on You Tube. Fun show and Dwayne Hickman and Bob Denver are great. bliss 09-26-2013, 04:36 PM I don't know why, but this whole thread makes me laugh. Imagine the wardrobe crew pinching their noses handling Dob's button-down shirts. |
