It is about Andy Travis.

I must admit if you've EVER spent any time in radio, the opening theme will hit you at a certain point.

"Living on the air in...": 99 and 44/100 percent of us have (or had) little if any identity once the mic is shut off....

"Got kinda tired of packin' and unpackin'...": The broadcast buddy of mine who got me my radio job supposedly worked on all but two of the radio stations in existence in the St. Louis area until he got the money to own his own stations (and that, my friends, was and still is where the money is!). Ironically, he told me not to stay more than two years at the station where we both (briefly) worked together. I stayed there for more than 30 years until I was sent packin' by new owners.

"Town to town, up and down the dial...": See above.

"Maybe you and me were never meant to be...": I can't begin to tell you the number of broadcast buddies whose marriages and families were torn apart by a successful (or even unsuccessful!) broadcast career.

"Baby, think of me once in awhile...": I guess we all want someone to remember us, whether they do or not....

Thanks for listening to an old radio rat! At least it beats Harry Chapin's 1972 cautionary tale on the broadcast life, "W*O*L*D"!
