These three cities: Istanbul, Madrid and Tokyo are the only ones remain standing, but they all had their own problems.

Istanbul has security problems.

Madrid has economic problems.

Tokyo had radiation and natural disaster problems.

Both Spain and Japan had too many of their Olympic sites in their past times.

Correct me if I'm wrong but The only Olympic Games held in Spain was the one in Barcelona in 1992. Japan has held one Summer Game in 1964. They held two Winter Games, Sapporo in 1972 and Nagano in 1998.

USA has held the games eight times, 1904 (Summer - St. Louis), 1932 (Summer, Los Angeles - Summer, Lake Placid - Winter), 1960 - Squaw Valley (Winter) - 1980, 1980 - Lake Placid, 1984 Los Angeles (Summer) - 1996 Atlanta (Summer) 2002 Salt Lake City (Winter).

Too bad Chicago didn't get the nod...for if I had a car, I'd spend the week there to see the Olympics.

And why hasn't Washington D.C. ever make the bid?
