View Full Version : Great lineups of the past
installLSC 09-04-2013, 02:44 PM What day of programming, either network or cable, stands out in your mind? I'll start with these I remember from the 80s:
NBC Thursday night: Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court. Now this is how you schedule! Gentle family comedy to start off and more adult as the night goes on.
CBN weekday nights: Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, You Bet Your Life (w/Groucho) and a show of Laurel and Hardy shorts.
Mace Dolex 09-04-2013, 02:53 PM Off the top of my head
Friday nights on TGIF: Full House (before it's move to Tuesdays), Family Matters, Perfect Strangers.
Thursdays on FOX: The Simpsons (before it moved to Sundays), Martin, Beverly Hills 90210.
My favourite lineup ever had to be ABC's Friday lineup from the early 1970s:
Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Odd Couple, That Girl, Room 222, Love American Style
Clearly something for everyone no matter what their age or taste. This puts the ABC TGIF 1980s lineup to shame!
Others that I like and remember:
1980s: NBC Thursdays: Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court
1970s: ABC Tuesdays: Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company, Soap
CBS Saturdays: Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, All In The Family, Carol Burnett
Most underrated lineup ever: ABC Thursdays 1962-63 (before my time! :( )
7:30 pm The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet
8:00 The Donna Reed Show
8:30 Leave It to Beaver
9:00 My Three Sons
9:30 McHale's Navy
It's hard to believe this group only lasted one season together. If any channel today would show this lineup I wouldn't need a remote!
IllinoisTVFan 09-05-2013, 07:45 PM I agree with ABC early 70's as both the Brady Bunch and the Partridge Family are two of my favorite shows.

How about NBC's Must See TV lineup and TGIF?
mets82 07-06-2018, 01:39 PM What was Real World Theater?
I'd go with TGIF or TNBC.
AMackII 07-06-2018, 03:26 PM mets82, Real World Theatre is the 90s MTV show that replays the early seasons of The Original Real World.
ABC Friday night 1970-71: The Brady Bunch, Nanny And The Professor, The Partridge Family, That Girl, The Odd Couple-moved in midseason-Love, American Style.
ABC Fridays early 70s is still my favourite of all time!

Fleet 07-08-2018, 03:29 AM 1970s: ABC Tuesdays: Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company, Soap
I liked and watched all of those shows except Soap. Never cared for Soap.

8:00 PM---- Happy Days
8:30 PM---- Laverne & Shirley
9:00 PM---- Three's Company
9:30 PM---- Taxi
10:00 PM-- Starsky & Hutch

MikeLutton 07-08-2018, 04:04 AM remember when local channels use to air classic tv like growing pains who's the boss other shows mean it was everywhere espically in the 90s
AMackII 07-11-2018, 09:32 AM Discovery Channel have a great daytime schedule during mid to late 1990s in which Home Matters, Lynette Jennings Housesmarts & Great Chefs were involved. I can also recall BET weekday schedule from the September 1996 to August 1999 span with Rap City, Jams Zone, Planet Groove, Comicview & Midnight Love were one of the shows being aired.
