"American Idol": Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez Join as Judges; Jackson Returns as Mentor

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

At long last, Fox has confirmed the judges panel for "American Idol's" upcoming 13th season — which, as previously reported, will consist of Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and newcomer Harry Connick, Jr.

Ryan Seacrest will return as host.





New judge Harry Connick, Jr. released a statement:

"I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show, and I am honored that they've asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way."





Original "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson will be returning as a mentor.

"Surprise, surprise! I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all. Season 1-3 is the place to be. The original talent show is back with a vengeance and ready to discover the best talent in America."

With everything and everyone officially coming together at the last minute like last year, "American Idol’s" judges for the upcoming thirteenth season are finally seated. Keith Urban is back from last year and, as announced earlier today, Jennifer Lopez is back after exiting the season before and Harry Connick, Jr. has joined the gang.

Here is the first photo of the trio together as they began auditions in Boston Tuesday. Season 13 debuts on Fox in January 2014.

Dang, I wished I could stomach singing competitions. I would love to watch Harry Connick on a weekly basis.:D Good luck to him.
