What the heck are pop balls? I musta missed out on that little bit o' culture.
Oh and my mom never forbade me from listening to Madonna. My mom loves Madonna. In fact if I ever get the chance to see Madonna in concert I am going to ask my mom to go with me.
I remember ALF cards. I loved ALF, and I loved those cards soooo much. I looked at them like every day. And then I lost them. I looked for them everywhere. Sometimes I went looking for them even years later, and I never found them. :crying:

Lastly, (for now, since I love this topic and love reminiscing)....for those of you who also love to reminisce, you simply have to go to www.yesterdayland.com It is probably the single best 80s remembrance site I have ever come across, and they even go back as far as the 50s and have 90s stuff too. They have message boards there, and info about all your fav. childhood things, from music to fashion to TV to you name it they probably got it. I think I just might have to join the message board over there....reminiscing is just so much fun. Go go go, all of you!

I consider myself as growing up in the 80's (born in '77) but I guess I was too old for a couple of those things- like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. By the time they got popular, I found that craze annoying. It seemed like it was mostly for the younger kids. I remember the kids I baby-sat always wanted to play that and everytime they brought it up I thought to myself "Nooooo, not again!!"
Anyways, this is one of my favorite topics. Most of my favorites from the 80's have already been mentioned. If I think of anymore I'll add them.

Ok, so I dig out my old Rubik's Cube and bring it up to the apartment because all my roommates love logic puzzles and stuff so I thought they'd get a kick out of the ol's Rubik's Cube.
Now mind you, I never, ever took the stickers off my Rubik's Cube....I just simply never solved it and lived with that fact...no need to go tearing off stickers and junking it up.
So my roommate takes the cube and fiddles with it for an hour or so downstairs, where we are all watching TV. Takes it up to his room, locks himself in there, brings it down like half an hour later solved. Now I know damn well what that cube looked like before he got his cheating paws on it, and all those stickers were in perfect shape and fixed tight to the cube. After he emerges from his locked room, all the stickers are curling at the edges and one of them is nearly ripped in half.
Few things are sadder than a 22 year old man who cheats to solve a Rubik's Cube, rather that just admitting his defeat to the cube.
Only thing sadder is he still denies to this day that he cheated to solve it.

Now mind you, I never, ever took the stickers off my Rubik's Cube....I just simply never solved it and lived with that fact...no need to go tearing off stickers and junking it up.

I can say that my cobe has been solved MANY times. With 4 kids and 2 adults in the family on LONG trip, we usually finished it by the time we got wherever we were going. :)
Here are some more:
If the toys you grew up playing with, you now see in museums.
If you learned from MacGyver that with a pocketknife, a roll of duct tape, and a gum wrapper you can get out of almost anything. :)
If you remember Mr. Hooper from Sesame Street :crying:
If you ever had a pogo ball or pogo stick.

I loved Troop Beverly Hills. My sister and I watched it all the time and had all the lines memorized. We also had an episode of Punky Brewster on tape that we watched over and over and to this day I can still vividly remember what happened in that episode even though I haven't seen it in years. It's the one where Punky and friends get lost in the woods and find that spooky cave.
I thought of another book from the 80's: "Are you there God, It's me Margaret?" It seems almost every pre-teen girl at the time read that one.
