Next month marks 8 years since the death of Don Adams, who died at age 82 of a Lung Infection after a battle with Cancer on September 26, 2005.

He was born Don Yarmy in New York City, New York on April 13, 1923, the eldest of 2 sons (including younger brother Dick, who died in 1992 at age 59) in an Irish-Hungarian family, where Don was brought up Irish Catholic & brother Dick was brought up Jewish.

After nearly a decade in entertainment, Don was cast, under the professional name Don Adams (to make himself sound more American named) on a sitcom called Get Smart, created by Mel Brooks (who wrote the pilot with Buck Henry).

Get Smart enjoyed a successful run on NBC from September 18, 1965 - April 12, 1969, airing Saturday nights at 8 P.M.; after NBC canceled Get Smart, due to poor ratings, CBS picked it up, airing the series Friday nights at 7:30 P.M.

On May 15, 1970, Get Smart aired its series finale after being canceled by CBS--this time for good.

In 1979, Don Adams reprised his Maxwell Smart role in a big-screen movie written by Leonard Stern & directed by Clive Donner called The Nude Bomb, which upon its 1980 theatrical release did just that--BOMB at the box office.

The PG-rated Nude Bomb featured brief nudity on the part of male football players who one second would be in full football uniform and the very next would be butt naked except for their helmets (including bare ass); bare ass was also shown, at the very end of the movie, of Don Adams, Dana Elcar & Andrea Howard; the film was a box office BOMB and, when televised 2 years later in 1982 on NBC, was retitled The Return of Maxwell Smart for TV as to avoid any problems with broadcast indecency censors such as the FCC.

Reruns of the original Get Smart series aired on Nickelodeon from January 14, 1991 - December 30, 1994; in 1995, Get Smart was revived for the FOX Television Network for 7 episodes with Andy Dick as Max & 99s adult son.

Don Adams made one of his final TV appearances along with Barbara Feldon at the 1st-ever TV Land Awards (simulcast on Nickelodeon) in 2003, hosted by John Ritter.

As an added bonus to this message, attached are the male asses of football players & the bare asses of Don Adams, Dana Elcar & Andrea Howard courtesy of The Nude Bomb.

My God! Has it been that long now since this was on Nick At Nite? While I have the entire series on DVD now, I was going through some old VHS tapes a few weeks ago and ran across some episodes I taped from when it first aired on said network. Of course I remember when Nick At Nite started in 1985 and showed mostly all black and white shows some of which haven't been seen since on TV
