Of all the times Lucy had to disguise herself as a man, I always wondered why she didn't take her make-up off. She might have been a little more believable.

She might have been a little more believable. You're not the only one who has wondered that! And how about being a 52 year-old woman, wearing makeup, while trying to pass herself off as a boy in military school (third picture). I didn't like it when they show made the viewer suspend disbelief too far, like was routinely done on Gilligan's Island. Those episodes don't work for me. PracTz 09-02-2013, 06:14 PM Obviously, that was so that even the dimmest and most nearsighted home viewer could tell this was Lucy rather than have to think that this character never seen before getting all these closeups was actually a man performer. Of course, it's long since been a hallmark of comedy to have leading men [barely] disguise themselves as women to a ludicrous degree to keep the audience laughing even if it stretched all logic that other character would buy said disguise. Slightly offtopic, I actually thought Lucy's disguises were more believable than Barbra Streisand's as 'Yentl' - despite the fact that Lucy was doing it for comedic effect while Barbra's character was supposed to be doing for serious dramatic motivations [and, unlike Lucy, Barbra didn't attempt to even slightly lower her voice or change her gait, etc.] Kasey 09-21-2013, 01:06 PM Those screencaps are so vibrant and clear! Whenever I try it they only come out fuzzy and smaller than yours. Marvo301 09-21-2013, 03:16 PM They wanted viewers to be able to recognize that it was Lucy under the disguise. (even though the other characters in the scene weren't supposed to recognize her!! lol!) LittleRickyII 09-22-2013, 04:21 PM Those screencaps are so vibrant and clear! Whenever I try it they only come out fuzzy and smaller than yours. Well, I didn't do anything special. I did the screen caps directly from the DVD using the screen capture on GOM Player. That's all. Give that a try. GOM Player is freeware, I think. Kasey 09-22-2013, 05:30 PM Well, I didn't do anything special. I did the screen caps directly from the DVD using the screen capture on GOM Player.
