Hey guys,

Michael Jackson will forever be known as The King of Pop and Aretha Franklin will forever be known as The Queen of Soul

But during the 1980's these 2 women became known as The Queens of Pop Music During the 1980's and this month, they're celebrating birthdays

Madonna Louise Ciccone & Whitney Elizabeth Houston

Even though Madonna holds the record for the most Top 10 Hits on the Pop Chart and even though Whitney has scored Top 10 Hits on both the Pop & R&B Soul Chart and even with their success on the Dance Chart and the Adult Contemporary Chart, both of these ladies have one thing in common:

They both hold the record for the most #1 Hits on the Pop Chart here in America than any other Female Solo Artist in Pop Music History during the 1980's

They each hold a record of 7 #1 Hits on the Pop Chart here in America

an impressive record

Madonna has also paved the way for other Female Solo Artists such as Brittney Spears, Christina Aguilera, J-Lo, Kylie Minogue, Jessica Simpson, Gwen Stefani, Fergie and so many others

Whitney, too has paved the way for Brittney & Christina as well as other Female Solo Artists such as Beyonce' & Destiny's Child, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and so many others

Whitney has even paved the way for 90's Pop Queen Mariah Carey

and despite the turmoil and controversy, IMO, w/o them, Pop Music would've never been more successful

Madonna has been charting for 30 years and she holds the record for the most Top 10 Hits on the Pop Chart than any other artist (male or female) in history with 38 Top 10 Pop Hits here in America and she holds the record for the most #1 Hits on the Dance Chart than any other artist (male or female) with a record of 43 #1 American Dance Hits starting with her 1st Single "Holiday" and she holds the record for the Most Consecutive #1 Pop Albums and the Most Consecutive Studio Albums to Debut at #1 than any other Female Artist in History with 5 #1 Pop Albums each

She has also won 40 Billboard Music Awards, 2 Golden Globes, 7 Grammys, 15 MTV Video Music Awards, 2 Back to Back Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Female Vocalist 1987 & 1988, a 1987 People's Choice Award for Favorite Female Musical Performer, 5 VH1 Fashion Awards and 3 American Music Awards

She also received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she was also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 and was voted MTV Artist of the 1980's

She also made lots of appearances on MTV's sister network VH1 during the course of the 1990's

Now, 55 and a Senior Citizen, Madonna is still going strong on the charts and also on stage and she has no signs of slowing down

Whitney Houston holds the record during the 1980's for the most consecutive #1 Singles on the Pop Chart in America with 7 straight #1's, she also holds the record for the Most Cumulative Weeks at #1 by a Female Artist with 46 weeks

She has also hit the Top 10 on the Pop Chart 23 times

She is also the Daughter of Gospel Singer Cissy Houston and she has a Daughter

She has won 22 American Music Awards, 7 Grammys, 6 People's Choice Awards, 2 Emmys, 8 Soul Train Music Awards, 19 NAACP Image Awards, 31 Billboard Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, an MTV Movie Award, a BET Award, a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award and she's even inducted into the Kids Choice Awards Hall of Fame

and in 2006, she broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the Most Awarded/Popular Female Artist of All-Time

Sadly, on February 11, 2012, Whitney Houston passed away in her home of Beverly Hills, CA

She was 48

August 9th would've been her 50th Birthday

Madonna and Whitney also had success in films

Madonna starred in such films as Desperately Seeking Susan, Who's the Girl, Dick Tracy, Evita and the James Bond Film Die Another Day

Whitney has also starred in such films as The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale and her last film Sparkle

Madonna and Whitney has also worked with Director Penny Marshall of TV's Laverne & Shirley Fame who Directed the Film Big

Madonna starred in the Film A League of Their Own a film in which she co-starred with Famed Actress Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Oscar Winner Tom Hanks and Madonna's Longtime Close Friend-Famed Actress/Comedienne and Former Talk Show Host Rosie O'Donnell

Whitney also worked w/Penny Marshall in the Film The Preacher's Wife Starring Denzel Washington, Courtney B. Vance, Jennifer Lewis and Lionel Richie
