Entertainment One has completed a co-development deal with Avi Lerner and Nu Image to develop and produce a TV series based on action film “Rambo.”

Sylvester Stallone, who starred in the “Rambo” film franchise in the ’80s, is in negotiations to be involved with the “Rambo” TV skein on a creative level as well as potentially reprising his role as the original John Rambo. Stallone has remarked to the press repeatedly in recent years that he is interested in reviving the franchise and character.

“Rambo” films, based on David Morrell’s novel “First Blood,” center on a troubled Vietnam War vet and former Green Beret who is skilled in aspects of survival, weaponry, hand-to-hand combat and guerrilla warfare. Franchise launched four films over two and a half decades.

Under the eOne and Nu Image deal, the partners will develop the series and shop to networks Stateside and abroad.

“I’m happy to be partnering with a prolific company like Entertainment One who has a track record of creating high quality programming for their broadcast partners around the world,” commented Lerner, an action movie vet who has produced “Rambo” pics. “And I’m excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy.”

Rambo could be coming to the small screen but if it does, it will be with a new face as its central star: Sylvester Stallone says he won't reprise his iconic role as John Rambo.

Independent studio Entertainment One on Wednesday announced that it had inked a pact with Avi Lerner's Nu Image to develop and co-produce a TV series based on the Rambo property.

In a news release announcing the project, the companies noted that they were in negotiations with Stallone to be involved with the project "on a creative level" as well as to "potentially reprise his iconic role as the original Rambo."

But a Stallone representative tells The Hollywood Reporter that no such reprisal is going to happen.

"While a television series based on the Rambo property is in development with Entertainment One and Nu Image, contrary to reports, Sylvester Stallone will certainly not reprise his role as the iconic John Rambo for the small screen," Stallone's press representative at Rogers and Cowan tells THR.

Stallone may still be involved in a creative capacity, but "he himself will not portray the character in the series," the rep says.

Thank God Sylvester isn't gonna do anymore Rambo movies hahahahahahahahahahahaha. If there is another sequel with a new actor, nobody is gonna see it LOL. Nobody wants to see a new actor besides Sylvester doing Rambo. JamesG, did you know there was a Rambo cartoon? I saw a couple of episodes when i was a kid and it was alright.

I didn't realize their making Rambo tv series I figure Rambo be too blooded for regular tv might be on hbo or show times I guess I don't think regular would pick it up unless it not going to be too violent or bloody
