Dick Van Dyke was “fine” after being rescued from a burning car on the 101 freeway, according to California Highway Patrol officials and the 87-year-old actor’s own Twitter account.

“He’s fine, thank God!!” his wife, Arlene, tweeted on Monday.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s incident log, officers responded to a report of a burning vehicle on the eastbound 101 Freeway near Parkway Calabasas around 2. p.m. on Monday.

TMZ reported that a man named Jason Pennington rescued Van Dyke after spotting a car full of smoke on the side of the 101 freeway where he saw an elderly man hunched over at the wheel of his Jaguar.

Van Dyke was not injured or cited for the incident.

Glad that D.V.D. was able to be pulled away from that. Mr. Pennington is to be commended.

I don't think Mr. Van Dyke will be driving any more Jaguars...!

The biggest danger was when he stepped out of the burning car and tripped over an ottoman.

Seriously, he could get a pretty good chunk of change if he put it up on eBay. ;)

I'm sure someone would want it. They could modify it to have it be the Taranchula

He'll be 88 in December and is still driving a Jag and tweeting (hopefully not at the same time). DVD is eternally young. God bless him!!!! :D

I couldn't believe this story when I saw it, just crazy! I saw the interview with Dick and he didn't look any different than he did when he guest starred on The Golden Girls over 20 years ago! LOL
