View Full Version : Which Kanisky girl are you the most like?
mickrobatt 08-19-2013, 11:31 PM I am the most like Julie. Besides being the oldest and being fair-haired, I am nothing at all like Katie. We have nothing in common whatsoever. I am somewhat like Samantha. I was sort of a tomboy growing up but not as much as she was. I was never into blood and gorey movies like Samantha seemed to like as a kid, but I was also never into dolls big time either. I actually used to use the wall in the house as a throwback for my ball like Samantha was doing. While I was no angel, I never was as much of a brat as Samantha could be at times.
All in all, it would be Julie. I am more solemn and serious like she was. I also like to read and study, more of an intellectual type. I got good grades and actually enjoyed school. Like Julie, I never was real popular with the boys. They all liked me as a friend, but asking me out was a different story. And, I always had trouble fitting in with the "popular" girls, the "in" crowd. Nevertheless, I was in organizations, had good friends, and have great memories of high school. Never an outcast, just not a girl like Katie.
On that note, Julie and Samantha are my favorites. Katie was my least favorite. The episodes about her were not as entertaining as the ones centered on Julie and Samantha, although "Katie the Cheat" was good because it also had Julie in there taking the test and confessing to the Chief at the end. "Katie Steals Julie's Jock" is great because Julie is so funny running around with the spaghetti.
Wawwie 08-19-2013, 11:47 PM During high school, I was more like Julie. I liked to read, to study, I got good grades, etc. After high school, I got a bit Katie-ish. But Katie was kind of an air head. That was never me. When I say I got sort of Katie-ish, I mean that I became more interested in make up, hair styles, dating, boys, etc. I was never like Samantha.

Smartboy 08-21-2013, 11:42 AM Because I am a male, I cannot really compare myself to any of the girls on this show or any other. However, the three people who have contributed to this thread have raised a lot of points that are quite interesting to me. I would like to mention two of them in this reply.
The first thing that I would like to comment on is the situation in which Samantha used one of the walls in her house as a throwback for her ball. That was from the episode "Mom's Birthday". I liked that episode a lot. My favorite thing about that episode was that Hazel Shermet was in it. I think she is great! I recently replied to a thread that dealt with the "Emergency". This was another episode with Hazel Shermet but as an entirely different character. Neither of these characters would ever been seen again throughout series.
The second thing has to do with Samantha's existence as a tomboy. This part of her personality became less and less as the series progressed. By season three, she had sprouted a chest, was showing an interest in boys and even wore a dress in some episodes. But one thing I never saw her do was carry a purse! Katie who was seventeen at the start of the series was almost never without a purse. Julie was fifteen at the start of the series. More often than not, she would take a purse on dates, to school and things like that. Now we come to Samantha! I can see two explanations as to way she did not carry a purse in the first season. Part of it is that she was only thirteen years old which is at the very beginning of when purse-carrying becomes age-appropriate. On top of that, she was a tomboy. However, as time went on and she become more feminine, purse-carrying was a line that she never crossed! Ever since I was eleven years old, I have been really into purses. I looked at it as something that made a girl's attire different from mine and attractive to me. It is because of this that I tend to notice who is carrying one and who is not.

Thieves and pick-pockets also tend to notice who is carrying a purse and who is not.
I'm just teasing.

You have a very cute sense of humor!
Hughsgirl 08-21-2013, 01:54 PM I'm 41 years old and to this day I'm not a girlie-girl and I still do not carry a purse. Before anyone asks, I carry my ID and money in my pocket. Hey, it works for me.
