'That '70s Show' Star
Dead at 43
Lisa Robin Kelly -- who played Eric Forman's older sister on "That '70s Show" -- has died ... TMZ has learned.
The 43-year-old actress passed away in her sleep Wednesday night at a rehab facility in California.
We spoke with Kelly's agent who tells us the actress had just voluntarily checked herself in for treatment for an alcohol problem this past week ... and was determined to clean herself up.
The agent tells us, "She had been fighting demons for a while and finally lost her battle."
Sources tell us Lisa had been in and out of rehab centers hoping to kick her alcohol problem ... and most recently fell off the wagon after a huge dispute with her estranged husband Robert Gilliam.
Sources say ... Kelly's estranged husband beat her last May to obtain residual money from her show. He was convicted of domestic battery last month and sentenced to 3 years probation. He also served 35 days in jail for the beating.
Lisa filed for divorce from Gilliam back in July.
We're told Lisa's new boyfriend brought her to rehab again on Monday ... but she went into cardiac arrest late Wednesday night and could not be saved.
The boyfriend blames her estranged husband for the relapse.
Sources connected with the attempted rescue tell TMZ ... when emergency responders arrived at the rehab facility, they found needle marks on both of Lisa's arms.
However, her BF tells us the reason for the needle marks is that he took Lisa to a hospital on Sunday -- because she had a .34 blood alcohol level ... and nurses made multiple attempts to insert a needle into her vein to extract blood.
After several attempts, medical personnel were able to use a vein on the top of Lisa's wrist.
Kelly had been troubled for the past couple of years -- she was arrested at least 4 times in the past 3 years for DUI, spousal abuse and assault.
Besides "That '70s Show," Kelly had appeared in several TV shows and movies including "Amityville Dollhouse."
Skywalker 08-15-2013, 03:40 PM :( I was hoping she'd overcome her substance abuse problems. Laurie Forman was one of my favorite characters on That 70's Show. It wasn't quite the same when she left. R.I.P. Lisa. :(

cleverfun3000 08-18-2013, 09:57 AM Many, many years ago after yet another actor or actress whose work entertained me for many many years had died suddenly and unexpectedly, I once and for all decided that I would concentrate and immerse myself ONLY in the actors work and totally avoid his/her personal life. I will always remember the person for the joy and laughs they bought me. I prefer to turn my attention to where the spotlight was supposed to be: their art, their craft, the show. What happens after the cameras stop rolling is never as happy and nice as when they are reading from and acting out a script.

That is the best advice I've ever read. Lets' concentrate on the good of that person and not the bad.

The information above serves absolutely no purpose other than a sick, twisted attempt to stain the cherished memory of a beautiful, wonderful actress who's work and talent bought endless joy to millions world-wide. Once again I state that regardless of what is printed about a celebrities' private life, I will focus on and celebrate their work as an actor or actress.
James28 01-04-2014, 03:28 AM It is really, really unfortunate that Ms. Lisa Robin Kelly had to be one of those actors who had to wreck their own lives by committing substance abuse and get themselves arrested multiple times (mainly for DUI/DWI). Her passing away from drug intoxication (as I suspected)... that is no doubt a waste of a beautiful-looking person, and a true beauty did not deserve to die from such a preventable cause. Died of drug intoxication while in a rehab facility...:(. I feared that this would happen, even after all the trouble she went through recently.

I don't see you eye to eye on a lot of things, but you are so totally right on this subject. I cannot understand why so many other people are afraid of doing that. Do they really think it will send the message that it's okay to support that kind of lifestyle?

No 2 people see eye to eye about everything, but I am glad that you agree with me on this very important and sensitive issue.
JamesG 06-10-2014, 05:31 PM Estranged Husband of "That '70s Show" Actress Sues Rehab Where She Overdosed
6/10/14
by Gary Baum
Widower Robert Gilliam, who was estranged from "That '70s Show" actress Lisa Robin Kelly when she accidentally overdosed on multiple drugs at a California rehab facility in 2013, filed a wrongful death suit on June 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court against Pax House and its owners, James and Marcia Burnett.
He alleges negligence, claiming that staff members at the yellow Craftsman property in Altadena were improperly trained to care for patients such as his wife (who played Topher Grace's older sister on the hit Fox sitcom from 1998 to 2003), and requests unspecified damages.
Forty-three-year-old Kelly’s new boyfriend told TMZ shortly after her death that Gilliam himself triggered her fatal relapse, alleging that her troubles were exacerbated by his physical and emotional abuse.
It was a charge Gilliam sharply denied, explaining that, in fact, "in the last two weeks, she called me 22 times to get away from the boyfriend," and that Gilliam was making arrangements for her to check into another treatment center closer to the suburban home outside Charlotte, N.C., that they once shared.
(In 2012, the then-couple was simultaneously arrested for mutual misdemeanor assault at that North Carolina address.)
Gilliam is now asking for damages sustained "resulting from the loss of love, affection, society, comfort, support... expectations of future support and counseling, companionship, solace and mental support, as well as other benefits and assistance" of Kelly.

Well said. I agree with you. I only focus on an actor/actress/singer's professional work instead of their private life as their private lives are none of our business. I'm nearly a year late, but this is really sad.
R.I.P. Lisa Robin Kelly a.k.a. Laurie Forman
http://www.looper.com/20780/really-happened-lisa-robin-kelly/
For the most part, the cast of That '70s Show has enjoyed an impressively high post-sitcom success rate. Topher Grace, Danny Masterson, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama, Mila Kunis, and Ashton Kutcher all continue to appear in movies and on television, the latter two at superstar levels. It's the dream scenario of Hollywood support systems—and that's what makes their co-star Lisa Robin Kelly's downward spiral into drugs, alcohol, and an ultimately death even more disheartening.

That 70s Show was for the most part about the life and times fo Eric Forman, his friends and his family. Unfortunately his family included his evil older sister, Laurie.
Laurie Forman was a fan favorite on the show--- portrayed by Lisa Robin Kelly.
From making her younger brother's life a living hell to breaking up Kelso and Jackie to marrying Fez ... many have fond memories of the mean girl with the Farrah Fawcett hair.
Surprisingly though, she wouldn't be the only actress to play the role as in Season Six of the series, Christina Moore took over as the character in a run that is either forgotten or neglected.
It is really, really unfortunate that Ms. The source (https://www.datalounge.com/thread/29784255-actors-who-got-booted-from-their-hit-tv-shows-for-bad-behavior) that I'm getting this from isn't entirely reputable, so take this with a grain of salt if you will. But his allegedly, a "blow-by-blow" account of Lisa Robin Kelly's final days of working on the set of That '70s Show:
Lisa Robin Kelly, THAT '70S SHOW
She spun out of control with booze & drugs mid-third season, to the point that she failed to show up at the studio on a tape-day (w/ live audience). After repeated attempts to contact her, a couple of the show's producers went to her house and found her wasted/zonked out. She was given an ultimatum -- enter rehab immediately (which the show paid for), stay clean, and the door would remain open for a return someday.
The episode she went AWOL/MIA was "Hyde's Christmas Rager" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0720105/reference). As some may recall, the b-plot had Jackie & Donna (who wanted no part of the guys' juvenile, beer-bong, keg party) going to a bar, where they met a pair of hunky older firemen. If it seemed like those scenes fell flat, there's a good reason -- Laurie was supposed to be with them! That was part of the joke/humor/funny of the situation. Jackie & Donna were so bored sitting at the Forman's, they were willing to hang out with bitchy, slutty Laurie instead of going to Hyde's kegger.
I was in the studio audience that night. One of the exec producers announced that LRK had "the flu", so there were a few scenes with Jackie & Donna that the audience wouldn't see filmed due to her absence. Kunis & Prepon filmed that first scene with the guys at the beginning (when they announce that they aren't staying for the kegger), and then sat around the rest of the night watching everyone else. Their scenes were rewritten to remove Laurie and then shot a few days later (at no small expense).
Lisa Robin Kelly, part two.
Lisa (clean & sober) was invited back for a few episodes at the end of 5th season. After hooking up with Fez one night, Laurie agreed to marry him, so he wouldn't be deported. That's how the fifth season ended -- Red had a heart-attack when Laurie announced that she'd married Fez. All was good with LRK (apparently), she was back in the fold, and expected figure prominently in Season Six.
And then SOMETHING happened during that first week of filming, season six. I don't know if she failed a drug test or what, but she FILMED the first episode of S6. Again, I was there in the studio audience. There was a distinct chill from the younger cast toward LRK. No one talked to her off-camera except Debra Jo Rupp & Kurtwood Smith. Wilmer Valderamma seemed to be particularly upset, storming back & forth between marks during the filming of the Fez-Laurie scenes in the kitchen. He wouldn't even look at her. I didn't think she looked high, then & there; she wasn't flubbing her lines. But she looked sad & defeated....like she knew she was done.
She was promptly fired & they cast Christina Moore as Laurie, on the fly. Reshot all the scenes with Laurie within the next week.
Ohio8 02-11-2023, 08:02 PM LRK was not a good-looking woman. Christina Moore, who replaced her, was (and still is) the hotter of the two.
’That ‘70s Show’ Recast Laurie for a Tragic Reason (https://collider.com/that-70s-show-laurie-recast/)
Nobody could fill the platform shoes of Lisa Robin Kelly.

She made millions laugh on television — but when the cameras stopped, Hollywood erased her. This is the brutal final story of Lisa Robin Kelly.
